Having used Heinz ketchup all my life and never any thought of switching regardless of price, I recently tried MS ketchup based a recommendation, I can truly say it’s taste so much better than Heinz and is a third of the price, give or a whirl.
    stamfordblue's avatar
Not tried M&S tomato ketchup, but it has nearly twice as much sugar in it than Heinz.

So they can’t sell the stock due to over inflated prices now to shift the stock they put them on at realistic prices lol
    19DembaBa19's avatar
Yes also check the dates they will be short dated too

If you order online with Nectar card and set delivery for 1st to 3rd September, you will see the listed prices.

Alternatively shop in store 1st to 3rd September and will be the same price with Nectar.

States max 8 per item per person.

    thanks

How does this work instore, you just show them the nectar card and get the discount and are they advertised instore like this? There is not a Sainsburys near me but on the way to work might be worth stopping in
    jvbeagles's avatar
When you scan your nectar card at the till the discount is applied to your bill, if you use a handset to scan as you go it shows straight away as you scan the nectar card when you take the handset.

I work nights at sainsburys… I just said to someone this morning what’s going on with all these Heinz stuff coming in lol. It’s not short dated just trying to press the nectar prices, the 12x beans and the 3x ketchup would be on the back wall stock(when it’s gone it’s gone) rest are on shippers

Won't be buying out of principle. At a time when there's a cost of living crisis, Heinz have tried to take advantage by doubling prices in just over a year, when their costs have only increased by around 20% or less.

No thanks, I'll stick to the Aldi versions of all these products which are still cheaper than these offer prices and which I've found to be equally good in most cases (tomato soup being the exception, though I prefer Aldis beans)
    plebbygiraffe's avatar
    They're not still cheaper, though.

    You mention soup and beans.

    Aldi beans - 45p
    This offer - £5 / 12 = 42p

    Aldi soup - 67p
    This offer - £2 / 4 = 50p

Screw you Heinz. You were never there when I needed you.
  8. ta10003's avatar
Purchased 3x 1kg Heinz Ketchup from Tesco a week or so ago on offer for £5 as well. No Clubcard needed so might be worth checking if closer to a Tesco store.
  9. golfchip's avatar
Needless to say there were none of the 3 x 1kg bottles for £5 in any of the Exeter stores.
They shot themselves in the foot charging £4.50 for a 910g bottle! Everybody went elsewhere and found that alternatives were just as good but at a fraction of the price.
I wasn’t even tempted by the half price offer of 910g for £2.25 when you can buy a 650g bottle from Aldi for 95p!!! Which tastes virtually the same but slightly less sugary.
I’d previously bought Heinz ketchup my entire life.
  10. pfpf's avatar
if you sign up to sainsburys online as a new customer can you add a "new nectar card" as part of the sign up?
    saneasaduck's avatar
    Yes just done it
  11. Letmein786's avatar
    Sold out in most stores.
  12. mjmurra's avatar
Heinz and their pricing behaviour has been shocking over the last couple of years. I won't support them even at 50% off.
    whymark10's avatar
    Well said. Same here.
  13. Big_Steve's avatar
Our house boycotted all Heinz products since seeing the shocking greed shown by them of recent times. A vast majority of friends and family feel the same.
    herrbz's avatar
And then everyone stood up and applauded! Right?
  14. robgoode's avatar
Don't be taken in by this deal. Heinz have tried to profiteer at our expense for so long. I'm sure many have found alternative products since the insane price rises. Buy alternatives and let this brand know we won't put up with their prices
    Justintime12's avatar
Same applies to those anchors too (200g shrinkflation butter)
  15. WowWowWeeWaa's avatar

Don't care how much they are. Still boycotting along with Lurpak and others. Not taking the pee outta me mofos

  18. tomwatts's avatar
Cheapest Ketchup has been for years. Icelands offer was good at 4kg for £10, this is scorching.
  19. monitor1's avatar
Lidl tomato sauce is the best. Came number 1 at recent taste test.Beating Heinz and all the rerst.
    preecey's avatar
It is good, but personally I love Aldi Bramwells ketchup. Lidl mayonnaise is better than Aldi's though.
  20. rimalpatel007's avatar
    Boycotting Heinz.

Sticking to Asda version which is a saving of £1 for 3 bottles compared to the Heinz deal.
    bassi3's avatar
Does it taste any good, all up for trying something new? lidls salad cream and mayo are good.
  21. SPLE22's avatar
Wasn't there a huge shortage of tomatoes which inflated the ketchup prices not long ago? What changed????????
    Justintime12's avatar
    People stopped buying heinz

Personally, I find heinz products far too sugary in taste

And tesco ketchup is very nice and much cheaper in general
  22. LongBuckby's avatar
So many comments on here stating that Heinz have profiteered over the last few years. Bar 2020 they have made less money than in 2016! in 2022 they made $1bn less than in 2016.
You can argue all day about whether they make too much money but accusing them of profiteering during a cost of living crisis is plain wrong

They have lost customers who have turned away from the brand due to the prices. Less customers purchasing less products will lower profits. The fact they have ramped up prices to keep profit levels high is the issue. If they kept the price down and raised to match inflation then they would have sold more products, to more people, and naturally would have found an increase in profits.

Absolutely scorching hot for ketchup this. Can’t wait to see my mrs’s face when I come home with 30 quids worth
    vxtyrant's avatar
Max 8/person. Should be spending £40 then taking the missus for another 8 😏
  24. preecey's avatar
Even though I agree with the comments above regarding Heinz taking the mick out of us by massively over-inflating prices lately, and that alternative brands of ketchup/beans are better than theirs (Aldi ketchup, Asda ketchup, Branston beans), this is still admittedly a scorching deal for those too loyal to Heinz and/or those too scared to try (and admit) that Heinz beans and ketchup are inferior to other brands these days.

    Voted hot regardless.
  25. c0nsumer's avatar
    Love my £0.89 Lidl alternative.
    GaryCrossan's avatar
    Absolutely
  26. eelvis's avatar
Don't give them the money. Shifting stock they couldn't get rid off after price hikes.
  27. jamesthompson196430's avatar
In the good old days when supermarkets had great offers you could be certain of the goods always in stock- the chances of you going to Sainsbury’s and getting the deals is probably around 1 in 50- so good luck with that one
  28. rory.dack's avatar
50900242-IrAa2.jpgIt's not 3 for £5 in store. It's only half price. This means sainsbury's own brand is still a lot cheaper, and aldi even cheaper than that! With the greed kraft heinz have shown with greedflation, this is an easy one to skip. I'm giving this ice cold Mark down. Doesn't warrant the heat It's being given. (edited)
    HappyShopper's avatar
    That's a different promotion for a 700g bottle.

See this video for the ketchup in this deal: tiktok.com/@co…432
  29. Jonny_Hill's avatar
Heinz have really messed up. Growing up it was a standard, didnt even think of other brands kind of buy. I thought I'd check to see what the going rate for a 910g bottle of heinz tomato sauce was at tesco these days....£4.25.

What a joke, and I suspect over the last few years, many of us have stopped zombie buying Heinz products and tried elsewhere. I prefer Branston beans these days. Ketchup is far cheaper elsewhere.

If prices are put to this price as a standard.they will sell more, but they've taken too long to appreciate how overpriced they are and are gonna be in big trouble.
    Random_Purchase's avatar
True, but the tins of Heinz soup were pretty good value at 50p each considering that even the supermarket own brand soups now cost more than that.

no surprise - the bulky Heinz items in my area are gone already for weekend delivery
  37. King65's avatar
Thanks place an order over £60 for delivery on Saturday and as a new customer also got £12 off a £60 spend. Hopefully they won't cancel it.

UPDATE Thanks to nihir I have now amended my order to get £18 off a £60 spend as a new customer.

If I’m honest Heinz ketchup tastes wack now I prefer M&S own branded it’s thicker and more like the old stuff
    Index's avatar
I find it rather a bit sweet for my liking.
  39. rory.dack's avatar
Baked beans were only half-price too. Most sainsburys don't appear to have the 1 litre (only up to 800ml/910g), so offers are only half price. You'll see by the photo that none are actually for sale (not that they are sold out). I was in a very large sainsburys too...so it seems these deals have very limited reach. What a waste of my time. Hopefully this will save others from a trek to the shop.

My large local was well stocked this afternoon, with all the usual Heinz products and I was expecting to fill my trolly, however, it was only today that I realised I don't actually like Heinz anymore so I bought a 6 pack of beans for old times sake and left.   It felt quite nice to be detached from a big brand
