”The 4K Hisense C1 supports both HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR, and is the first to deliver a high-quality image in our tests for both, making it an excellent room-to-room portable projector.” ’PCMag’ – Editors’ Choice.

Dropped to this price at many of the usual outlets (with 10% voucher). Picked Richer Sounds for the deal because it comes with 6 year warranty and they've never let me down.

If you're going to spill this amount of cash you'll do your own research but there are plenty of reviews out there. It still seems like an eye watering amount of money and I wonder how much more you really get than a decent 1080 projector. To the average eye I imagine not so much.

This projector last went hot on here 5 weeks ago when it was posted at £1709. So it's a big price drop.

Good comparison review here:

I have this projector and yep im the mug who bought it at launch for 2k lol,

anyway that aside its a great projector the audio is amazing hdr not so much (washed out)
4k is high quality 4k. Colours are top notch with the triple laser tech.

Loads of built in smart apps, very similair to a firestick with own appstore netflix apple tv etc.

Im projecting to a 120inch screen from about 15 feet away and pic is more than bright enough can be viewed in daylight but obviously better in pitch blackness. (edited)

Thanks. Very helpful. It looks like a wonderful projector for a lot of people. I'm seriously tempted. Should have an incredibly long lifetime too. (edited)

Just my thoughts as i have a 65 oled and just recently purchased the hisense PL1 short throw. I already have a Xgimi horizon 1080p and been using it mainly in the bedroom for a year or so. occasionally i would move it downstairs and watch the football but being 1080p it wasnt reslly doing for me so i had 2 options , a 77" Oled or a 100+ projector for slightly less. I went for the PL1 as i didnt want heads to be in the way from begind the sofa. Did i make the right choice. Yes. T picture quality, although its not native 4k, it doubles the pixels to make it look like its 4k and does a great job doing it. i did consider the c1 but the pl1 was cheaper and although certainly more fussy with placement, once it's in the right place, its fantastic.
Having said this, there isnt a massive difference unless they are side by side and you can see extra detail when 4k (obv) but the blacks were better on xgimi when just using a white wall.

I need to definately replace the cheap screen as in light scenes you can see the white lines, dark scenes is fine. i'll likely get a ALR screen at some stage as the blacks are more grey atm but perfectly adequate for now.

P.s i cant correct the mistakes as HUKD still havent rfixed the ios bug where you can go back and correct. unbelivable really that we are still waiting but there you go. (edited)

I’m not sure why this is considered eye-watering money? This is still the budget end of projection and no different to buying a mid-range tv

Because I'm a filmmaker and imho there is very little difference in enjoyment between a half decent 1080p projector (budget end and does an amazing job) in a dark room and projectors 300% more expensive. Of course if you pixel peek and put projectors side by side you can see significant differences which is how you can keep people spending more and more money. 8K anyone?

Of course I fully respect one person's 'eye-watering' is another person's barely blinks. I just happen to fall in the former category. (edited)

I just got a £100 projector ("VOPLLS" brand) from Amazon, out of sheer curiosity of where budget projector tech is at nowadays. Absolutely gob-smacked to discover pin-sharp 1080p and fast-response from input while playing PS5...I expected input lag, washed out colour, dodgy downscaling from 4k and a generally fiddly and loud device. I can only imagine what a £1500 4k laser projector must be like!

Slightly off-topic: has anybody seen LG CineBeam Q? Ultra-portable 4K projector, seemingly about half the size of an xbox series x, but with a similar form-factor, and really smart handle that also serves the purpose of a tripod/stand. Unbelievably cool piece of tech...presumably not as capable as the HiSense? (edited)

Bought a Chinese make 4k one and it was amazing. Used if for few days and it overheated when trying to play 4k. Returned it and went for a 1080p one after some more research and it's been good for over a year. Thing is, in right conditions this projector images look better than my 4k samsung tv. Watching projection vs tv is a whole doffrent ball game. I don't really think they are directly comparable

Just to note, this appears to be a pixel shift 4k, but true native 4k. Would be an incredible bargain if it was, but still a good deal.

Looking at 1000’s for a native 4K projector

I don't understand how they can market a projector as being 4k when it uses pixel shifting. Seems like a waste of money over a good 1080p native projector if you ask me.

Same price on amazon, better guarantee at rs

Still prefer how horizon ultra is packaged/unit looks, hoping for a mark 2 that's faster processor and better contrast (edited)

Last time this was listed I spent a long time trying to find out the lumens of this thing, thinking if it was laser it must be really bright. At 1600 It's distinctly average.

1600 is more than enough in a darkened room (cinema mode will go much lower than this) unless you have the space for a 300 inch image. If you are going to be watching a lot in ambient light not a great investment imho.
