3Bristols conversion was posted weeks ago on HDUK. The savings are utter jokes, a lot of items were still more expensive than B&Q due to the fact they were severely overpriced initially. Don't fall for this clearance malarky, its just a last ditch attempt to try and gain customers. I have visited Bristol personally and it was a complete waste of time, the majority of the store was 10% off, with the big 50% off reserved for.....bags of nails and hinges!

You were either unlucky or didn't look properly - I have been into my local clearance store several times in the past week and bought -
pack of wallplugs 5p/ rubber blade window scraper 8p/ pack of picture hanging fixings 12p/ pointing trowel 35p/ and some other bits I have forgotten now.

You need to take your time and scan all the prices, as many items have been reduced to a fairly cheap price, but then the percentage discount is applied on top of that, making odd bits and pieces in every section a steal...... if you need them.
There was a massive stack of fairly sturdy black 'builders buckets', for around 50p with another discount on top, but as I didn't need any I forget the exact price and discount.
Keeping my fingers crossed for the staff that they are not closing down as this is indeed just getting rid of stock.
Which Bristol store is it?

similar to the new model but with a less powerful battery. I saw 2 yesterday and must be national but you must look in store for stock.
We got a Sovereign battery powered grass trimmer years ago. We got it for about £35 at the time I thought it was alright. Took me years to realise that it was actually a gtech grass trimmer in disguise. Gtech was selling the same one until either last year or the year before (can’t remember which) for £99.99 reduced. It’s still going strong now. I wonder how these compare.

Motion sensor night guard/torch - £5 : Homebase instore
325°
Found 5th FebFound 5th Feb
These are great, motion sensor night light + detachable to turn into a torch. Usually £12+ on Amazon. Lowest I’ve seen is £8.99 on eBay
I have these. A few things I've found. They get very hot when they are plugged in to the point where I believe they are inherently faulty by design - I don't understand why they get so hot. I'm worried they are going to melt or catch fire or something - the heat can't be good for the battery.

Also - in moderate lighting, I found they will still switch on with movement which is annoying - needs to be pretty bright or they incorrectly think it's night-time. One of mine also keeps randomly going on and off every few seconds constantly whilst plugged in despite no-one being near it and nothing triggering the movement sensor - seems to have a mind of it's own.

As a torch they're great and they've worked when there has been a power cut.

I have a couple of the OP items, been listed quite a few times here. Loads in our store for ages now. Very bright and a bargain at a fiver. Homebase Longwell Green is now a clearance outlet with discounts up to 50% off everything when it’s gone it’s gone!!! Open 7am-8pm Monday to Saturday. And 10-4 Sunday!!
Visited the store before and after the clearance started, only a few days apart, in that time many items have in fact gone up in price, one item in particular I noticed before the clearance was £7.99 is now £18.99 with 20% off. Disappointing
Homebase is in big trouble now as only half of the 19 re-formatted new Bunnings stores in the UK are operating at a profit. Expect the existing Homebase stores to be sold or go under. More sell-offs to come. I've done well from the £39m of unsuitable stock disposal - some with the deals posted here and some I didn't post as they seemed store specific. Feel sorry for the staff though.

theguardian.com/bus…obs
Visited this yesterday based on this threads opening hype.

If you visit you will be sorely disappointed. As stated by another user this is just a marketing scam, its not a "clearance store" as we know it its just a regular store (its almost identical inside as it was before becoming a clearance store) with a few flashy % discount signs. A lot of the stock is 10% off, meaning its no better than b&q regular prices after discount (bear in mind OAP discount is 10% on select days anyway). The only 50% off items are in things like nails which were massively overpriced to begin with, the discount just makes them regular high street prices.

I wish I hadn't wasted my time falling for this hype and promise of bargins. It really wasn't worth the trip!
The New Southgate (North London) store has also been changed to a Clearance Outlet.
its for discontinued stock from surrounding stores you cant return any items to any other store

Can you simply replace GU10 halogen bulbs with these in the same fittings?

Yes, GU10 is GU10 that's the size. Just won't work with dimmers.
Can you simply replace GU10 halogen bulbs with these in the same fittings?
I replaced all the non-dimming bulbs in my home for these TCP branded bulbs a few years ago - bought them through Robert Dyas at the time.

Colour wise, they are VERY similar to a 50W halogen, the 3000K warm white is a perfect substitute. Light is emitted from 4 x 1W LED sources, you can see four dots if you stare at them.

I replaced dozens of bulbs and haven't had a single failure after thousands of hours of use.

They aren't dimmable at all, I tested. You just get a horrible buzzing noise from your dimmer and the bulb is either on or off depending on the brightness you set.

For some rooms, I chose to remove the dimmers and replaced with a standard switch. I used 2W and 3W TCP bulbs, same design as these, to match my normal desired brightness.

They're no bigger than a normal halogen GU10 and won't stick out the ceiling like some models. Other brands, especially dimmable ones, are much bigger and don't fit flush in the ceiling.

1W of electricity costs about £1 per year to run, based on 24/7 use. So your 50W GU10 could cost you up to £50/yr to run, these will cost just £4 over the same usage - you've saved £46 each year. If you only use them twelve hours a day, a £23 saving.

Basically, if you only use the lights for 1 hour a day, it will pay for itself in 6 months when replacing a 50W halogen.

No brainer!

Hope that helps.
