You should be - it's quite a well-balanced and good looking system for the money.

Nice bundle for under £500 and the laptop is good general purpose too - could complain about a 4GB GPU but it’s about on par with the RTX 3050 and people seem happy to pay £600-650 for those still.

Take it the rtx3050 laptop posted yesterday at £525 is better than this one? (edited)

    IMH and non-expert opinion:

Plenty of positives given price for this entry dual (regular use and low/mid level gaming) laptop...

    BUT for me personally?

    🔹Screen loose/flimsy/shake issue? ❌❌❌

    And WORSE still -

    🔹Only 250nits? ❌❌❌❌

    *(assuming reports are correct)

    Kills my appetite..

Otherwise would have ordered as gift item for someone.

Factor in additional cost for potentially if not certainly needed/wanted EXTRA RAM and SSD STORAGE, and as in my case not so good viewing of screen in bright indoor office/gym and outdoor work conditions.

Still, worthy of some heat though given price, pros and bundled items... AND moreso if 15% discount applies for the buyer. 🔥 (edited)

It's not just the brightness that's wrong with the screen.
45% NTSC and awful response times.

It'll look dull and faded, never mind the motion blur.
    It's a very cheap 144Hz IPS panel.

If you're a techie like me you could actually buy a good panel for a reasonable amount and swap it over, but that's something very few people like doing with laptops.

That said, it's a lot of laptop for the money, if your budget is limited you have to suffer somewhere. (edited)

Looks good apart from the screen.
45% NTSC, 250 nits, 9 ms response time (that can't be G2G can it?).

Cheap nasty plastic builds on these and i see hp is bundling their own hyperx dumpster brand now to try and make these rubbish gaming laptops look better

This one or the i7 one been listed today (I know its 60 quid more)

I wonder if the previous listed ones low screen NITS number, poor colour accuracy and reported screen wobble has been improved on the i7 one?

This doesn't appear to be a good deal. I have just bought a Dell 15.7" laptop with a Ryzen 7 CPU, 1TB ssd and 16gb of ram for £499.40.

    Ok I'll bite. Details please.

Please can someone advise? I need a laptop with these minimum specs. Will the graphics card on this HP suffice?

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-6600

    Memory: 8GB

Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 470

    DirectX: Version 12 (edited)

Are you familiar with this website?
    videocardbenchmark.net/sin…php
It has benchmarks for most GPUs and allows up to four to be compared to each other. There is also a tab to do the same for CPUs.

Now post a review which compares the actual CPU and GPU combo this laptop has - they criticise the GTX 1650, reviewed a laptop priced at $799 and highlighted the lack of RGB and plastic chassis

You’ve posted so much about how bad this system is, did you buy something else and have buyer’s remorse?
  10. Somersett's avatar
WARNING- the GPU is dreadful. Fine for older games, or non-demanding indie titles. But please, please inform yourself if you think you are getting a system fine for new AAA games. A system at this price point should have the vastly better 6600M, BUT that GPU needs serious cooling. All good GAMING GPUs do, which impacts the form factor of true gaming lappys.

AND, given the date, gaming of all sorts is getting heavier on the system. Console dev has now disowned last gen consoles, so the world's gaming dev base is the current PS5. Your GPU wants 8GB - your lappy RAM should be 16GB- not exactly unreasonable given record low component prices.

Does anyone know if you can use a 65w gan charge to charge the laptop via usb-c ( obviously at a slower rate)??

For this money - amazing laptop, it could contain less plastic and some metal though...
