I have prior generation and these headsets are brilliant. I got mine for £20 from curry’s last year. The mic was better than a £120 steel series I’d just bought. Immediately returned that to Amazon and kept with the hyperX. Unbelievable quality for money when you consider other headsets comparatively but wireless are 6X the cost.

Yes the wires annoying and no quality of life features but all in all the best low/mid budget headset.

Great price. I paid £70 although that was a few years ago. They're absolutely brilliant. People will talk about Audio Technica, Grado etc and yes audiophile headphones are better but these are really good for the price. In gaming headset circles they're a classic. Heat!

I have these and they're comfy, good enough sound quality, mic is fine. Cable annoys me though.
I prefer to use my Sennheiser HD 450BT, not similar as they're not made for gaming, but they do sound a lot better to me and cost the same price.

    Yes the cable is awful.

In the HP Victus thread, people were saying HyperX is ‘cheap HP junk’… was a different model but that’s what was said. I always thought it was pretty decent though. How is it compared to Razer and Corsairs in this price range?

Those people don't know that they are talking about, certainly with this headset but HyperX make a very decent mouse (as in 'is it good enough for the pro level? type discussion) (the HyperX Pulsefire Haste) and keyboard (Alloy Origins PBT Linear) and RAM kits from their Kingston know-how. This headset came out in 2015, was/is used by pro gamers and streamers and sold about 25m units. HP didn't acquire HyperX until 2021. HP had nothing to do with the making of this headset.

You don't get many 'classics' in tech, it ages of course and gets forgotten, but if you had a 'hall of fame', tech that gamers widely know and was known to be special, or punched well above it's weight, or had crazy longevity the HyperX Cloud 2 Wired would be in there along with the i5-2500k CPU, the MX518 Logitech mouse and the 1060GTX GPU.

To answer your question, Corsair build quality is rubbish for headsets (their expertise lie elsewhere) and Cloud2's are better than my mate's Razer Kraken which was about £150 I think. Check out the Amazon reviews for the Cloud 2s, I'm sure they're very highly rated on there.

You won't do better for £40, put it like that. Are they the best you get get for sound? No, of course not, but they are very well regarded and punch well above their weight, to the extent that people that can afford much more, don't bother and go for these.
