The northern lights are visible most months from September through to March, but only for about 5 nights a month on average, hence why so many people return from their holls grumbling about not seeing them.

I’d love to go, unfortunately I hold a grudge and Iceland stiffed the uk regarding the banks going skint. There like Croydon Council… clowns.

The Icelandic people refused to bail out their reckless bankers more like. More power to them.

If you're not going for the Northern Lights, you won't see much else with only 4 hours of daylight.

    £49.98 now (edited)

There's not a great deal to see. Most of the natural attractions require a tour - like the waterfalls, glacier, and any hot springs all are based quite far from Reykjavik. Maybe the nearest hot spring is 50 miles but waterfalls and glaciers are further.

Reykjavik as a town is quiet, there's 2 or 3 nightclubs/bars which often operate as coffee shops during the day. The blue lagoon is different but doesn't justify the visit imo, and it's about 5 miles away along the road to Keflavik.

Appreciate it will get some backs up but most would be better spending the money on a Mediterranean holiday unless a cooler trip is high on your list and you're fed up with sunny holidays. (edited)

Went a couple of years ago (when the exchange rate was better) -
    unbelievably expensive!!
You’ll be lucky to her a hotel in Reykjavik for less than £200 per night.
Be warned - get your alcohol at the airport - they don’t sell alcohol in supermarkets (only state-run off licences). A bottle of wine from these is £40.
Blue Lagoon - Not worth the hype - spend your money elsewhere.
Northern Lights - Don’t waste your money on the trips. A better bet is just to go out on the jetty in the harbour (to avoid light pollution). The internet forecasts are pretty accurate.
Another thing - we witnessed the worse case of racism I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m sure it was an isolated incident but still very unpleasant.
Still would recommend though but just make sure you take lots of money.

would be it’s Nov,Dec and Jan for the best months, though last time I went the day I got home there was a magnificent Northern Lights display in the Brecon Beacons which is typical

We've been this year and we didn't notice it to be vastly more expensive than here. To be fair, that's probably because things are do much more expensive here these days. You can easily get a pint for £5 and a main meal for £15 in most places
