No way would I leave keys outside in one of these.

To be fair they aren't designed for security, but convenience. Fine if you mount them correct and out of view. We have one hidden which contains a key to a door nowhere near it! Saved us a few times and no safer option for letting someone access your house.
I mean if someone wants in, they will get in anyway. Not hard to pop most UPVC panels out with little noise or pick most house locks if you are patient.

I've known many people leave keys in less secure places (plant pots, mats, top of frames, etc.)

These are poor. A lot of people open it up with say code 9642 then walk inside WITHOUT SPINNING THE NUMBERS.

The casual thief will then take a note of that number, bide his time then come back when the house is empty (usually confirmed on a social media post).

The push button type where you actually take the keypad inside with you are far more secure, like this for a shade over £12
    amazon.co.uk/Que…8-5

Used to fit alarms and knock some shady characters who know how to get around security so take my word for it.

    Avoid. (edited)

That seems like overkill when you can pull the front of these off with a spoon.

I'll give this a shot, sick of leaving my keys under a plant pot.

    Where do you live?

Could probably open this with my teeth. Get a police recommended one.

Are you Jaws from James Bond? Thought he was dead.

First search for how to destroy a key safe came up with this >>Link<<
Someone motivated could wait for you to leave on holiday and then have their way if determined....

One can break the glass or the lock too. It took our locksmith about 5 seconds to take our lock off, no noise, and the same amount of time to put it back. No sign that the lock was of. Hence we replaced it with a safer lock.
These are more for people who have carers, it is common practice. Also, some people who rent their houses via Air B&B use these, but I think a smart lock with a PIN is a better solution. However, not at this price. (edited)

If you have the option to fit in a location where it is difficult to access from any of the four sides, is out of sight and then only use it occasionally I think it's fine.
I have mine hidden in the back garden and use it to hold my key when I go running, never there for that too long but saves me carrying the key (edited)

Always spin the numbers if left unattended and open

    Approved by Chinese police ?
Interesting what Google says about the seller where the address points to a Chinese take away and the owner is based in China.

I bet quite a few people use a code like 1111,2222 etc with these lol!

Damn, now I need to change my code

Anybody seen Horror movie Barbarian (2022). This key box didn't work out too well for her

    LOL, it didn’t

Does this make sense. Fit it under your RING DOORBELL. if you have one. Surely there must be a good solution. ?????
    harmageddon's avatar
NO, why advertise ' Hey my house keys are in this box ... give it a ago'. Why not fit it somewhere hidden and out of site

Good for occasional use such as an self check in AirBNB which isn't going to have the keys stored in this all the time. Probably not a good solution for a property which is accessed infrequently.

I've got something similar, they are too small and fiddly, I wish I'd bought a bigger one.

These can be picked very easily using a soda can. The lockpicking lawyer demonstrates the flaws in lots of security devices.

I would personally just hide keys if i had to. or, hide this box somewhere with the keys inside.

but if you really do want to use this lock, or any combi lock. don't use a date. your birthday in 1988 is easy to brute force when the first two numbers are set to 19 or 20.

Blu tack your front door key to your front door and then go to sleep and see if you feel safe.
If you don't, don't get a key safe.
If you do, you don't need a key safe. (edited)

TOTAL JUNK. A relative novice could be inside this in probably three to four times the time it takes if you know the code. So, maybe a minute to access your keys. I bet your insurer would not pay out.

When your eyes are pap and have no glasses with you in the dark and have to knock at a neighbour for help as I know to well having forgot keys.

    Good for air bnb
  21. msharif911's avatar
Not bad for the price but easy to open. Loads of videos on how to open these on YouTube. (I forgot the code for mine and had to do it.)
  22. markvirgo's avatar
you only need a piece of paper and a pen to open these.
  23. adriang68's avatar
It looks similar to the one the lock picking lawyer on YouTube opened up in a few seconds..I wouldn’t be trusting it!
  24. lakitu1982's avatar
I have one, saved me lots of times when I've come home drunk and forgot my keys. The cleaner uses it also which is helpful. It's out of site and I live in the middle of nowhere.

I have single pane glass windows so if someone wanted to get in my house they could in 2 seconds and no one would hear.

These are not for everyone but good for some.

“Police approved” in the title but doesn’t back up those claims. Cheap rubbish from Amazon with most likely fake reviews that won’t be secure. Avoid.
    Darter's avatar
No way is this police approved. I could stand corrected but the only Police approved/accredited Keysafe in the UK is the Supra C500. Now there's a good Keysafe.
