THe i3-12100 with iGPU is on offer on Amazon for £109.97 if anyone's interested.

Probably worth looking at the same gen i5 (12400f) in that case. £30 more for 50% more cores. Albeit this one has no iGPU.

You could get the rx580 for around £50ish from AliExpress ( i did) that would be better than the extra on igpu

Isn't the ryzen 4500 better value?

Yes...the platform is better as well. Plus you'll struggle to find a cheap decent motherboard to go with this particular CPU as the platform is dead now

Is this not supposed to be a bit of a BEAST

Not by today's standards. It's about the same as yesteryear's 6700k but without the igpu.

Since this a quad core i3 hyper-threading, other than more RAM capacity and IGPU - what benefits would an i5 bring for general browsing and typing up documents or spreadsheets?

For £40 more box has the i3 10105 which has igpu if you already have a gpu this will be fine for office and internet.

And this processor supports up to 128GB RAM so that wouldn't be a problem. (edited)
