Have to say, we bought a set of IT luggage hard shell for around £280, and a wheel on the mid and large went after 2 trips. Got completely pushed inside the chassis... And a crack by the handle.

Their warranty doesn't cover what they consider to be mishandling by baggage carriers, so that's their get out.

Be careful, with luggage, you do get what you pay for. American Touristed I have found to be very long lasting (they are part of Samsonite but cheaper).

Also works on soft shell cases which are 1.5kg lighter.

Bought one last week for £75, just bought again online for £60.

Will click and collect and return the other, thanks (edited)

Is it wise to go for large hardshell if you are moving abroad, 2 long flights, travel in-between, if you have a lot of personal belongings? Spend extra and get better, if so which brand?

The thought of some of the wheels breaking mid move would be such a headache

I've got 2 suitcases of this brand since 2015 with no issues

Smashing price for the large one. But isn’t the Wheels poorly made?

Mines first trip and the wheels went they sent me a replacement though but it's just headache to claim

I remember I was looking for a bag once and spent ages looking round TK Maxx. The soft shell IT-Luggage were absolutely far and away the lightest, which was main thing I was bothered about.

No way would I consider it adequate for checked baggage but then I would never check in any brand which had 4 "spinner" protruding wheels because you are just asking for at least one to get smashed off and then you are stuck. If it's for checked baggage you definitely need the type where the wheels are inside the case with just a bit poking out.

You definitely don’t. If they broke so easily don’t you think the manufacturers would stop making them? They are built to be sturdy and withstand a bit of rough handling. Mine has lasted years and has been checked in multiple times.

Cabin one on its own almost 2.5 kg so NOT really light.

And only 34 litres! Can get more in my free underseat rucksack.

You can get 60 litre cabin bags so 34 litres is shocking. Especially, now cabin bags cost what hold luggage used to cost.

The luggage in the link weighs 2.8 kg and costs around 10 times as much as this one.

Not tried the hard shell types from IT, but have used the extra large soft fabric one. The wheels were fine and very easy to manoeuvre. When I bought mine instore from Matalan, they said keep the reciept safe as Matalan cover warranty on the first year and I should bring it back to any Matalan if I had issues in that time.

The version appeared to be very popular on my flight and I spotted at least 3 others luggages identical to mine on the carousel! Luckily I had 'personalised' my one with bright orange paracord and colourful stickers around the outside so had no confusion picking my one out. So would recommend adding some ribbons/stickers to help it stand out if buying these as IT are quite popular the moment. (edited)

Well, I've purchased the soft fabric too a month ago. Only that Matalan told me that they covers for the first 6 months, not 12 months. They told me I needed to register it on the IT website for a 10-year warranty. But you can't register it.
I've contacted IT, and they told me all I need to show is the receipt. I'm sorry, but I don't trust this warranty at all. Who on Earth will keep a receipt for 10 years? In a couple of years, you'll barely be able to see any writing on the receipt. If you purchased online, yes, this may work.
Not only this, but somebody on this post said that he/she approached IT to claim on warranty, and on top of the receipt, they asked for the suitcase tag that specifies the name of the product and shows 10 year warranty.
So, no, I have no confidence in them. 10-year warranty is only marketing, and Matalan either does not have a clue on how the warranty works on this, or they deliberately mislead the customers. (edited)

Hard shell more likely to get broken by baggage handlers, seen so many coming out of the baggage claim with huge dents and cracks in

    Thanks OP
Ordered a different IT bag with the code and saved

As some one who travels for a living hard case suitcases just will not last. The corners will get cracked and split. Worse so if it’s a corner with a wheel on. Of course all due to the way baggage handlers throw them around. It’s a good price for an occasional traveler or some one not using airports.

just keep returning rinse and repeat.

Their warranty is amazing. The wheel came off my medium hard shell suitcase and they replaced the whole thing no questions asked.

Terrible luggage, terrible customer service. I always use American Tourister now after 5 cases all unusable after one holiday. Never again!

Just received mine. Seems good quality. The wheel part does look exactly like my other IT, obviously moving from airport on to Tarmac/pavement it will sure wear and tear. But cannot argue for the price. The case its self seems sturdy and somewhat feels kinda light even it says 4.4kg. I thought the case will be 56cm wide as mentioned but its 52cm… also the item was not seal wrapped brand new so it’s either a return or a store display. (edited)
