That's my comment in another Moto's G series deal: "I'll keep far away from Moto from now on aas the ghost touch was so frustrating on G4. I should shout out loudly to help others as Moto didn't release any info on this issue. It might happen again on G6."

MrRee

I'm having ghost touch issues with my G5 ...... horrific experience when it happens, bloody MOTO crap!! AVOID, buy something decent

JonathanHanson

Never had an issue with updates on my Moto z or z2. They're generally one of the first to release them.

sherlock747

Absolutely no hassle at all.

Peter_Oz

I didn't think it was worth the hassle, so went with John Lewis and get a 2 year warranty to boot.

Lol. I don't really wear watches anymore - even for work. I generally wear this one for holidays. When I need to keep an eye on the time. Catch a plane, etc. Over the years I think I've worn this particular watch alittle more than you, about 15-20 times.

bellmal

Got mine from Amazon a few years ago. Great watch and time keeping but the strap brought me out in a rash so was changed to a steel one.

I bought that too... I've hardly ever worn it. 4 times maximum...

gazdoubleu

Well it is already a deal as of today's Amazon prices and believe it or not there are people who don't like Amazon and/or don't have Prime. As I said it's a 'heads up' as most people will be scrambling to buy from Amazon and not think to look at JL especially as most people will be at work on Prime Day. I don't see the harm in that. I've seen it happen before even Maplin (RIP) undercut Amazon one year on a Black Friday for Firesticks but if there are limited stocks elsewhere people will miss out.

R0adRat

Sorry no I didn't my bad. Im still confused though, why post something now that isn't a good buy? Why not see if JL price match on Monday and then post it, then it would be an actual "deal".

Decoded

I've heard the 2nd gen sounds worse than 1st gen Echo. (lol)

chigger1

If John Lewis price match + provide 2 year guarantee then it's no brainer to buy from JL. Plus added benefit is that JL pay more UK taxes and support jobs!

Yeah funnily enough I popped into JL today to see the A1 in action and they admitted the £2499 was a pricing error. Also confirmed that I could swap for the C8 if I wasn’t satisfied. Must say though the A1 looked beautiful, any worries you have kind of dissipate when you it in the flesh.

Thomablue

Price now £2999 on JL online

white91

This is really worrying, it’s a beautiful set however I can’t help but feel the C8 is a better TV and more compatible with current standards

mattclarkie

Yet my more expensive X800 has been confirmed by Sony as not getting any DV support. Its baffling what Sony is doing, the X700 is below the X800 but has a flagship feature the X800 doesn't have. Regarding the 2018 sets, although you are correct they are essentially the 2017 sets, I suspect Sony did put that important DV chip into them, it wouldn't have cost them much and Sony surely can't be content with their half baked software hack for the 2017 sets. I've seen no evidence that they did, but it would be foolish for them not to have done. Maybe wait until someone can confirm the 2018 sets have real DV support.

nick05

That’s useful, thanks. X700 does support it but with caveats: www.forbes.com/sites/johnarcher/2018/06/01/sonys-ubp-x700-now-plays-dolby-vision-4k-blu-rays-into-sony-tvs-but-its-all-a-bit-of-a-mess/amp/. Hopefully they iron out the bugs because the X700 will likely be my next player (have a non-DV Panny at the moment) Amazon Video is also supposed to support DV. Finally you mention 2018 sets, but I understood the AF8 has the same issues, being essentially the same set.

I suspect you get 1TB OneDrive storage for a year with the O365 (can't tell from the pic) which is £59.99 annually (more if paid monthly). Possibly worth getting & selling the mouse as new but using the storage.

89quidyoucantgowrong

I think the folding flat feature is to make it easier to carry in a bag or case.

Picard123

The mouse is 'okay' but not particularly great. It's selling point seem to be that it folds flat but it's not a particularly comfortable ergonomic shape when in use. As for 365, it would be cheaper to buy Office 2016 from Ebay.

Fluffykins

Having used MS Orifice 365 at work all I can say is that £69.96 for a mouse is over priced, as is £0.01 for the software.

Not that it helps, now its OOS, but Richer Sounds has it at £229 but more importantly they have the proper dimensions inc the rear width for those with tv's with annoying feet like mine. https://www.richersounds.com/techlink-prisma-pr130-sat-blk-light-oak.html Although its a nice design, I'm struggling to see what makes veneered MDF so expensive originally. I would buy at £50 though probably.

Still use my Panasonic freesat box with DVD built in. It annoys me youview is never freesat just freeview. Freeview is dead half the spectrum has been sold for 4g and 4k will probably never be on it just via the internet. Surely satelite is the way to go. All TV like BT is always freeview. Even nowtv's box is freeview. Surely they should have a freesat version to capture ex sky customers?

mikeydalby

I purchased a HUMAX HDR-1100S B Freesat box earlier this year so I could ditch sky+. I was only basically using the box as a PVR and it was costing me £27 a month. I haven't missed a lot on sky tbh and the Humax box is performing really well as a recorder (with series link). Installation was simple as I used the satellite feed from my previous sky box - just pulled the cables over.

redant

Mine doesn't. It depends which of the Energy Saving settings you select. The best approach is to use the Smart Standby option (assuming you've updated your box reasonably recently if its an old one). This will put it in a deep sleep overnight then into normal standby during the period you might want it on. It can still perform recordings - https://support.youview.com/youview-box/box-and-remote/using-smart-standby

pieinthesky

Why do youview boxes take an age to start up? It's ridiculous!

itm

Such a shame that nobody has been able to develop custom firmware for these newer Humaxes
