Ah I see this is Group 0 to 3. How do i check the safety rating though?

jdRiggs

That one is forward facing only, not suitable from birth and a smaller seat. It only reclines a tiny bit. From what I recall it only got an average safety rating by adac.

Throbbo

We've got one of these in my car (and my parents have another to use when they are looking after my boy) because the evidence about the greatly increased safety of keeping kids rear-facing until they are big as possible is very compelling. The stats are actually pretty frightening about what can happen to small children in a regular front-facing seat in the event of a head-on crash. This Every Stage seat is well-built and I'd certainly recommend rear-facing seating (and, of course, it becomes usable front-facing when they get bigger), but it is a bit of a pain in the arris to get the child into there, especially as they get bigger and less, erm, 'cooperative' at times. It is fixed via the seatbelt and you need to 'limbo' the child over the belt to get them into the seat! Do-able, but awkward. Also, not the most upright of positions available which isn't a problem when they are little but not so great as they get older. I only use the Joie seat for short-journeys around town with my 3 year old and when travelling longer distances transfer across the Britax seat from Sweden from my wife's car. This is much easier to get the kids in and out (and it is easy to transfer them while sleeping) - but a lot more expensive, not easy to install and remove and is not capable of forward-facing! I seem to recall that I paid about £160 for the Joie seat myself, and around £125 for the one in my Dad's car, so this is a decent price for a good seat. Caveats about usage, however. I'd imagine some Mums might well struggle to get the child in and out of the seat as they get older as a certain amount of strength is helpful in those situations.

munshimq

is this a good brand? Graco one is £119- https://www.halfords.com/kids-zone/car-seats/toddler-car-seats/graco-nautilus-gravity-car-seat?cm_mmc=Google+PLA-_-Car+Seats-_-Toddler+Car+Seats-_-348193&istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istItemId=xrqlwlprww&istBid=tzwt&_$ja=tsid:94971|cid:1536901118|agid:62325125927|tid:pla-371065798538|crid:291898456478|nw:g|rnd:10299057041761590524|dvc:c|adp:1o2|mt:|loc:1006886&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIu43Xr8b13QIVi7HtCh3Y4wccEAYYAiABEgK0aPD_BwE

You could argue that it removes some of the human error from fitting a child seat, so from that point of view it could be seen as safer. But in terms of what happens in a crash there is no safety benefit to using isofix compared to a seat that’s been correctly fitted with the seatbelt. I have three children (although the eldest is nearly 13 and no longer uses a child seat), my car has three sets of isofix points along the middle row (it’s a 7 seater) but I have never used an isofix seat.

Delivered and installed today - its an impressive bit of kit! First impressions are its huge! Little one is now nearly 11 months and taller for her age so although we are staying rear facing we chose to put it in the most recliny position. I would recommend test fitting baby in the seat before you install as it will allow you to adjust the recline and straps. If you are going rear facing you cant do this in the car. Fitting in the car was easy and although there is some movement when tensioned with the seatbealt its not too bad. Pics below...

umirza85

Thanks guys!! I read on the website but it didnt say it amongst the feature list. I suppose rear facing using the seat belt isnt ideal, but I'm more looking to use this forward facing anyways as its our second seat.

Jlamb

Code showing expired for me unfortunately

andreah903

Yes, rear facing installation is definitely only using the seatbelt, not ISOFIX. This is because the seat doesn’t detach from the ‘base’, it’s all-in-one, so it’s not just a case of attaching the bottom/base of the seat to the ISOFIX and being able to fit the seat part facing either way.

jdRiggs

Google? http://www.joiebaby.com/product/every-stage-fx/ The installation video says it can be installed using either the seat belt or isofix forward facing. Interestingly it looks like the isofix ONLY applys to FORWARD facing installation? Rear facing is using the belt

If you've got a taller child and are set on having a rotating seat then this Joie one is going to last the longest. The Britax Dualfix and Cybex Sirona have very short seat shells and a tall child willoutgrow them by height before they are anywhere near 4 years old.

spik3_my_drink

got this.great seat

pepsi.pie

Cheapest I had found this online was £250 so quite a good saving.

BargainLovingMum

Maybe as people don't want to spend so much on a car seat? Not me as I have the Britax 360 and I would easily pay £200 for something that rotates and something I would use everyday. Plus it would last for years and can be used again with siblings.

Worth bearing in mind when parent facing the wheels don't swivel as it is the handle that moves relative to the seat instead of turning the seat itself around. So it is a little more awkward in parent facing mode than other pushchairs but is very lightweight. Mixed reviews on smyths http://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/baby/c-614/pushchairs-strollers/p-15991/joie-mirus-scenic-stroller-bluebird/ and amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Joie-Mirus-Stroller-Poppy-red/dp/B00C76CXKK

I bought this last year for when I mind my grandson. It's excellent value for money, sturdy but light, comfortable for the baby and adjustable from virtually a horizontal position (great for when he sleeps) to a fully sitting up position. The footrest is adjustable too.
