How is this PS5 compatible? The read speed is only 3500 MB/s

It seems that 5500MB/s is recommended by SIE, but in reality slower drives will work, as shown here.

With that being said, I wouldn't really want to risk it myself as you may find games potentially stuttering when loading in content later down the line.

My assumption is that the internal storage is at least 5500MB/s, hence why SIE have told developers to target that performance figure when developing games.

Regardless, it's a great price for a pretty speedy 2TB drive. (edited)

Its cheap for a reason only £5 more from other sellers....Its ok just for back up files but i would say no to gaming etc (edited)

You're acting as if it's a hard drive, it'll do just fine for gaming

What's with people saying it's no good as a PS5 SSD?
Because the sequential speeds don't match other Gen4 SSD's?
It will not make a difference, random reads/writes are much more important, and this is easily good enough for the PS5. (edited)

Want to put this in a future AM5 gaming build. Is this good enough or shall I look for something faster?

    This will be fine.
The 3500MB/s sequential speed is of little importance for gaming (or most things really unless you're always transferring huge files).
Random read/writes are whats important, and the difference between this and top end drives only equals 1-2 seconds game loading time, not worth the extra cash for all but elitist gamers, lol. (edited)

There buying a slower drive for your PS5 then there's this it maybe a gen 4 drive but gen 3 drives are this fast. I suspect if you tried to use this it wouldn't work properly at all its way to slow. If you buy this and stick it in your console you are going to make it unusable stuttering artifacts read/write errors and that's if it works at all.

It works perfectly fine. But I would not use it for PS5 games. It’s perfect for PS4 games of course, and as storage drive. Move PS5 games to included fast drive.

Dont recommend this for PS5 at all, but it's an amazing deal for PC users.

Will this require a heatsink to use on a PS5?

If using as additional storage, such as in a RAID array in a NAS or in a Mini PC, would there be much difference between this and say a Firecuda 520 Nvme? i.e. if not using as a boot or gaming drive, but just as additional storage.
