Was looking for a cheap laptop with a decent amount of processing power and came across this on offer at Currys, which may suit others looking for something similar. Processor scores 11275 on Passmark. RAM and storage are appalling but easily and cheaply upgraded. Screen and build quality are judging by reviews, but have yet to see anything better near this price. Windows 11 S can easily be switched to regular Windows 11.

You'd be better getting one off the Lenovo site with no OS. You can get 8GB ram, 256GB ssd, IPS panel, fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard, wi-fi 6 and a larger battery for £289.

Impressive discounts when you change things around - though no OS will be a sticking point for some. Clearly better value this way round, the IPS display is way better than the stock TN panel on this one from Currys. Didn't add the fingerprint sensor but otherwise think this is the same as yours. 50300490-cdYbY.jpg

Actually not a bad price, the i3 12th Gen is pretty quick for an i3 with 6 cores and 8 threads (2P+4E).

4GB RAM is poor but a quick fix to bring it to 8 or 12GB dual/flex channel mode, highly advise this.

Display is pretty poor, it’s TN, weak viewing angles and 250 nits.

All of this adds up to a fairly good system for someone who wants a brand new machine only, no refurbs and has a bit of patience to upgrade the RAM.

Screen and build quality are WHAT judging by reviews?
Please tell, I read a few times hoping I'd overlooked a word.

Something that grandma buys for 5th birthday of her grandson...
He bursts with laughter at the spec and chucks it away. (edited)

Only thing that's a problem is the 4Gb RAM, otherwise a decent basic machine. I have something similar.
