The Fender 30th Anniversary Screamadelica Stratocaster marks the 30th anniversary of the eponymous album by Scottish rock band Primal Scream, which gave the band and Bobby Gillespie and Andrew Innes their worldwide breakthrough in 1991 with singles such as 'Come Together' and 'Loaded'. To mark the occasion, the U.S. guitar maker is now launching a special edition Stratocaster with original album cover artwork, making a truly exceptional instrument available to fans and collectors in limited quantities, including Deluxe gig bag!

Classic Strat design
The 30th Anniversary Screamadelica Stratocaster follows the classic recipe of the successful model, featuring a solid alder Stratocaster body shaped to traditional specifications and a solid maple neck with a modern C-neck profile. The latter is finished with a Pau Ferro fingerboard that presents a 22 fret medium jumbo format and a modern fingerboard radius of 9.5 inches.

Vintage Style '60s Single Coils
In order to skilfully reproduce the Stratocaster's strong character and versatile sound, the Fender 30th Anniversary Screamadelica Stratocaster uses three vintage-style '60s single coils. The three pickups are modeled after the classic pickups of the golden Strat era of the sixties and evoke the distinctive sound and response of classic sixties Strats in all five switch positions of the pickup selector.

Custom Screamadelica Artwork
As a unique custom design, the entire body of the Fender 30th Anniversary Screamadelica Stratocaster presents the original cover artwork of the 1991 album. Not only the instrument's lacquer, but also other hardware parts like the pickup caps, the pickguard and the poti caps were provided with the artwork to give the anniversary model its unique look.

I don’t think anyone would want these after hearing how Duffy was treated by the band prior to his death - didn’t have a penny to his name: dafts.co.uk/lou…pdf

Wow, thats absurd. No surprise this hasn’t made mainstream media.

Could you not just spray paint over the cream egg?
    gg1pl's avatar
Was thinking the same as you could remove the bridge and just spray over the face

The yellow splash isn't that bad TBF but if you wanted to replace that, spraying becomes more of a hassle

Yeah, aesthetically I think it was always going to struggle a bit, as it's really not for most. I'd have one, If I didn't have a 75th anniv model. Always wanted to try a Strat and avoided it for literally decades, as every man and his dog seems to have one Then I played one and saw why, haha.

Was really short sighted of me, although I do like my guitars to have something different about them. My tastes have settled somewhat and I'm more open minded these days.

The price point these launched at was quite frankly gross, ha. £799 I thought it was reasonable for those really wanting one (Big fans) and then this price... Well, I kind of felt like it hit a price point that might put it back on the table for those that just couldn't pull the trigger last year. (edited)

Shame it’s not a tele , might have struck on that

Meh, I don’t mind the artwork on it. I’m guessing the extra cost is also associated with the pick ups. If it sounds good and plays good I’d happily own and play it. Doesn’t even look like a cream egg to me. My only gripe about the artwork is that it doesn’t bleed over the edges of the body. (edited)

Seems expensive for a Mexican strat. Pretty sure my US strat was less than that.

    Love Screamadelica btw (edited)

You're a bit behind the times then.
Your guitar has likely nearly doubled in value if it's tidy.

Well, that's an overwhelming amount of Creme egg comments

Next time you're in Co-op and you see Creme eggs, you never know. You could find yourself going "Looks like a Primal Scream Fender Strat"

I love guitars (and love buying new guitars even more), but fail to see who would want to buy this? Other than dedicated PS fans for decoration.
Edit: Its a good price though, so heat. (edited)
  23. uni's avatar
i love PS and it's an amazing album, but this doesn't look very nice. if it was £100 i'd get it to go with my other guitars and also PS collection, but it's like they've spoiled a nice fender strat with the art. i bet it probably plays nice etc, but who is going to use that as a player?
  24. mrjrdmc's avatar
Heat for great band/album/guitar but not for me 😬
Any advice on the best stratocaster if I was going to get one for life? There's so many variants and I will try before I buy but I don't even think I could physically try them all. Also, is there a MAJOR difference between this and say what Dave Gilmore plays? (Besides £10,000 ish) Forgive my dumba$$ questions, I'm beginner - intermediate and don't know anyone to ask this stuff.
  25. njr911's avatar
£570 is a bargain for a new Strat. With a new scratch plate it might look a bit better. I love screamadelica but don’t really get why they would put the cover on a guitar. Now if gretsch or rickenbacker did a John squire job it be all over it

Seems about the going rate for a Mexican strat.

It's an iconic graphic (although I'm not one for guitar graphics, personally, and this one is particularly garish)

But does anyone else find it odd on a Fender when Innes plays exclusively Les Paul's and Epiphones?

I've seen him promoting it but the low output single coils sound thin and weedy for his bluesy grunt style of playing imho. It's a very odd pairing of artist and promotion. (edited)
    Damthatlazlo's avatar
I don’t find it odd, they’d play the opening of a cream eg…cream cheese sandwich if there was a fiver in it for them.
