If you have wrist pain a vertical mouse is also worth a look. Anker do a cheap one I've been using for a few years

Alternativly Logitech mx ergo which allows you to rotate it 20deg. I think there are 3d printed attachments for higher angles also so it is closer to vertical mouse. It is very comfortable and battery lasts over 1month ( 9-5 mon -fri usage). It is a bit more expensive.

I bought this after having some pain in the back of my hand that I put down to using my traditional mouse. I've had it over a year now & am quite happy with it - this is a good price for a quality mouse.

Recently upgraded to this mouse and find it comfortable to use and reduces strain on my hand. Over a 10 hour run of working however I do find my right thumb starts to get more and more tired to the point where I'm considering cracking out my old mouse to jump between the two and give my hand a rest.

That is exactly what I do, when I need more precision I switch to the normal mouse, sometimes I web browse with this and then go to the normal mouse to click on something precise like a small icon and find it very natural now to go straight back to the tracker ball. They are just side by side on my desk

I also have used this tracker all on its own for extended periods which is particularly good when you are on the sofa or lack a flat surface
