As much as I love Makita, their nailers are rubbish compared to the competition. I would advise you get either Ryobi or Milwaukee (edited)

I have little experience using nailers but I read up extensively before buying pne just to Brad nail the decorative parts of pre-hung doors.

I understand there to be huge differences between the functionality of the technology between nailers rather than the individual brands. I bought one with a mini compressor inside for about £100, they fire the nails below the surface which is important for my needs, but many use friction to drive the nails with a type of wheel roller design. Some brands do seem to have advantages over others and dewalt seem to make the best large gauge construction guns, but if you want a pin nailer than I can’t see any of these brands being worth more than the £100 I paid. The many criticism i have of mine is it is heavy

How does this compare to the DeWalt equivalent?
I have Makita AND DeWalt systems/batteries (and adapters..lol)

I've not tried the new DeWalt one yet. The only comparison I have is the Ryobi, that one of my chippies has, and the Makita is far more comfortable to use than that. Judging from the improvement I've seen in DeWalt tools over the past few years I should think their 23g is going to be as good as the Makita, maybe better? Makita seem to have stood still with their development allowing Milwaukee and DeWalt to catch up and overtake in some cases. They also seem to be concentrating on their XGT system more now.

All my kit is makita, but to be honest... nailers is one area where I think Dewalt do it better.

Having said that, better still are the Hikoki ones. They're comfortably the best gasless, battery powered nailers I've used. (edited)

Really don't need this, but really good price. Can't see any jobs on the horizon which need this, but so tempted.

If you dont rely on one for daily use then it might be better to just go for a chinese one a fraction of the price from aliexpress.

From some of the comments on here I'm not sure that people are realising this is a 23 gauge nailer not an 18 gauge one. It's a great piece of kit if you have the Makita batteries for 'invisible' pinning. It's not something I use daily but I'm glad I have it in my kit.
