Had an old 50m extension reel that was broken around the sockets after years of use so rather than toss it out I stripped it for the cable n got this exact Masterplug socket. it's still going after 7 years and this time waterproof (edited)

Good price and robust socket. I have one on a trailing extension that has been left on my drive in all weathers for over 5 years. Still fine and weatherproof.

As far as safety goes it is far more important to have a working RCD at the other end of an extension lead.
