I saw (somewhere) a good few people saying how uncomfortable it is. I bought this after trying all of the available Ikea desk chairs and thought this was the most comfortable. I’ve had it for about 6 months now and WFH I still think this is very comfortable. I’m not sure what the critics were talking about.

Ergo chairs in particular are always going to split their audience. They’re designed to support the user correctly according to the shape of their body, and no matter how much they offer options to customise the lumbar support, firmness etc (and this isn’t exactly a grand’s worth of Aeron when it comes to that, understandably) it isn’t going to suit everyone.

If it does fit you, then it’s an absolute bargain.

This was listed at £86.25 back in March in the Spring Sale but this is still a good price. Not sure whether to get it now or wait for the next sale! (edited)

I've been using this chair for about 6 months and it's ok, certainly worth 100 quid. The mesh at the back stretched to the point my back touched the metal support so I put some spacers in to give more of a gap and it's been fine since. The arms are a bit uncomfortable and have worn away the sleeves on my clothes. The bottom isn't the most comfortable but I can manage a full day on it.

It also had those horrible castors that lock if they have no weight on so you can't move it when it's empty, I swapped the entire base with another chair to make it a bit lower and for the castors. (edited)

I find the Markus a bit rubbish. The arms won't fit under Ikea's own desks and the base isn't comfy. I like the back though

What do you think of chair OP has posted in comparison to Markus? Does the base of markus sink?

Heated but gone with the HUVUDSPELARE for £59 (down from £70) instead:

I'll put it together today - Hopefully, it'll fit under the desk, as the arms are fixed. (edited)

Just wondering if the JÄRVFJÄLLET is worth the extra expense.... I like the extra adjustment.

If we’re throwing alternatives about, I was happy with my Markus for a couple of years before the pandemic saw me take my expensive one home from the office. It had a huge reputation in the indie game dev community as the best chair without spending a fortune as well. Though that was all before either of these other two were released, so it might have changed.

They're ok, they can handle you leaning on them but they aren't particularly comfortable. They do have good adjustment though, I slide them back for VR gaming and forward for typing at the desk

Great chair. Bought one for my 6ft 3" son just over a year ago and he loves it. As a gamer he's on it quite a few hours each day and no complaints so far.

The support bar running down the back of the chair puts pressure right into you back. Stupid design.
