Product Overview:

The brand new Arete range of compressor dehumidifiers are the latest innovation in the line of ultra-quiet dehumidifies from Meaco.
The cutting-edge compressor technology in the Meaco Arete range provides the most energy efficient range of Meaco products yet in a sleek package that runs as quiet as 40dB and is the most energy efficient dehumidifier to date.
If you want to control the humidity in your home without distraction then the Arete range is the market leader for exceptional humidity extraction at a super quiet operating volume.
The extensive feature set makes this the perfect dehumidifier for almost any home and can be deployed in any room as well as conservatories, garages, boats or caravans with exceptional performance.
Dehumidifier users most often leave their dehumidifier near bedrooms and in operation for the majority of the time. As such, quiet operation was essential. The Arete range runs twice as quiet as any other comparable compressor dehumidifier on the market.
The intuitive control panel makes operation simple for everyone allowing you to get the results you want with no confusion. The large 4.8L tank means you will need to empty the unit less often than with comparable units for added peace of mind.
Unlike many competing compressor dehumidifiers, the Arete range comes with an included HEPA filter that can catch allergens and pollutants in the air to remove them effectively. The filter is simple to install and replace and additional filters can be purchased separately.
Set a target humidity for complete control over your home air quality and even enable the smart laundry mode to ramp up the unit to dry your clothes quicker. When in laundry mode, if the unit reduces relative humidity below the set target, it will go into Fan Only mode that will continue to dry your laundry but is an amazing feature to help you dry your laundry quicker and easier whilst saving you money.

These guys seem to have a terrible track record/feedback. Was about to buy, but now having second thoughts. Apparently they resell returns as new as per a few feedbacks.

Hmm, some of those feedbacks put me right off - thanks for highlighting.

Has massively improved air quality in my house, dropping humidity from 70-80 to 40-50.

Is there much difference between the 18L (exclusive to costco) and this 20L?

You can get a further 5% off by singing up to email.

I cant see any mention of the 5 year warrenty on Costco so if think about going that route id definitely make sure about it first.

I got the recent QVC deal for a 12L model and I have to say I'm impressed with it; it's great for drying laundry indoors and has stopped the growth of black mould.

I thought this was three's 5g router for a moment there.

    Is it both?

Cheers…just picked up a couple of 10l Aretes. Had been waiting for 12l to come into stock but these fit the purpose better (single rooms).

Have had Ecoair Simples for the last 4-5 years and they usually die just after the 2 year warranty is up. Hopefully this company honours the 5 years.

Dehumidifiers are brill though. Dry bedrooms have cut our colds and chestyness to pretty much zero.

Thumbs up for Meaco dehumidifiers. Has lasted much longer than the previous Ebac did, and is both quieter and more energy efficient. I also didn't much care for Ebac customer support (which was basically "buy a new one"), but since nothing's gone wrong with the Meaco I can't directly compare them. (edited)

Have the 12L version. Great piece of kit. About 9p per hour to run at todays prices. I too thought it was a bit louder than expected but its in my hallway. Get a full tank every 2 days. Had it set on 55 humidity. Seem to have to keep clearing my throat since January but don't know if its the dehumidifier or some bug. Changed settings to 60 see how it goes. Again. Great piece of kit and simple to use

I've been having sinus issues, dry blocked nose, bleeding etc since I started using mine.

It's like the dry air is a shock to my system or something from being in such a humid house for years.

Will this likely to drop in price this summer?

Doubt it with the cost and availability of raw materials going the way they are. (edited)

Why are these so popular recently?
    Grim's avatar
Because people can't afford to have the heating on as much so these are needed to stop mould.

I have a 25l version and its excellent, cant get HEPA filters anywhere though, all sold out and 3rd party dont seem to make for 25l version

Oh well, they run more efficiently as dehumidifiers without those in anyway.

Great product. I have 2 - one downstairs and one in loft conversion. They are really effective at removing humidity even drying clothes. I have energy monitoring smart plugs so can measure energy consumption. I also use them when my electricity is on cheap tariff - super super economic to run

I’ve had a few dehumidifiers over the past 30 years and the Meaco Arête 20 litre is by far the best in terms of build quality, design, quietness and water extraction rate. Our four bedroom house has five adults who shower at least once a day and we have lots of clothes drying inside in the winter months. Obviously that’s my personal experience but a five year warranty gives me peace of mind too.
    volc's avatar
With a large unit like this do you even use the air purifier?
  15. Zheka's avatar
Had one for couple of months now. Well made, works well, but not as quiet as I hoped. Hepa filter also makes it noticeably louder.

I wouldn't bother with the filters as they have to be replaced every 3 months, hard and expensive to get hold of and make it run less efficiently as a dehumidifier.

Got the swan 10l from very a couple days ago for £80. Seems to work well

I spent a lot of time reading about dehumidifiers and couldn't decide in the end. If your house is cold during the day like mine then compressors won't run efficiently below 15C and Desiccant models are expensive to run, either costs a few pounds a day. Opening a window normally seems to reduce humidity enough to prevent mould 🤷‍♂️
    Grim's avatar
Yep, window opening is fine for reducing humidity, especially after showering or cooking, but during really cold winter days it's good I think to keep the windows shut and put the dehumidifier on for a few hours and keep the shower heat and cooking heat in the home, the dehumidifier raises the temperature in my room by 1 or 2 degrees, enough to enable me not to put the heating on, unless it's a particularly cold spell.

I have the 25L and it’s really good. Think this is the normal price but getting hold of one isn’t easy. Grab it while you can.
