"Compatible with coffee beans" I'm glad that's been clarified so nobody buys it expecting it to work with runner beans!

Delivered today, tried with Lavazza Espresso beans and very impressed.
Good crema, smooth and for the price bloody good.

did anyone notice coffee residue in the coffee compartment?

mine had 2 blue tabs like new but inside the bean hopper was coffee residue I wonder if they test it before selling

also the mains plug has no cable tie thingy holding it together, can anyone who ordered one of these chime in?

Code does not work for me

Works for me. Got to apply it at checkout

This is seriously cheap for a proper bean to cup machine.

I have one of this solo for three years. Very satisfactory, even better that £500 one. The only issue is the coffee temperature is a bit low which you need to heat up milck.

I don't understand why none of them produce hot enough coffee. I really don't. Every morning I wake up and microwave some milk in a mug before I put it under the coffee machine I paid over £400 for so that the coffee is actually hot. Drives me nuts!

Had mine since October. Can't fault it.

    Thanks OP, bought.
Daughter loves her coffee so was looking for a pod machine or ground coffee with frother but this looks good for bean to cup at this price.
She can froth her own milk. (edited)

Get a Bodum as I did for my daughter. Occasionally in Lidl at £10/
Can get water filers as well to fit in the tank. Amazingly, my daughter's has been going for 2 years now.

We just bought the Purista, which is (according to German reviewers Coffeeness) the newer replacement for the Caffeo Solo - it has a new brew unit and a quieter grinder, amongst a few other tweaks.

Find it much easier to clean and maintain than the Saeco XSmall it replaced and the coffees are much nicer too (I get the feeling the Saeco was in bad shape for a while as its coffees haven't tasted good). (edited)

    Also double the price lol

Going from an Aeropress to one of these, I've been extremely impressed.

The only thing I have noticed is that the used coffee "pucks" look huge so it uses a lot more coffee beans than my Aeropress did.
    AudioJunki3's avatar
I used an aero press too for the past couple years. The coffee usage varies with aeropress as you can put in whatever you want. I guess you could get away with using less. Get my beans from Costco, 1KG of Lavazza beans for £8.50 at the moment

I think I will stick to my £34 Melitta filter machine and keep grinding my own beans . At least I have hot coffee any time of day
    Sci123's avatar
But that requires you to grind your own beans vs pressing a button?

Was going to order 1 of these on the last offer at 160 but was out of stock. Thanks
  19. chocstar50's avatar
It looks to be good value. Can you use proper sized mugs or just a cup size like the title suggests? Thanks
    wpj's avatar
Knob on the top left for the cup/mug size

Great stuff. Was going to get the smeg one from Lavazza subscription for far higher price so will give this one a try.

I always find preparing my own cup of coffee in the morning a rewarding experience..although this machine is truly an automatic charm if you want to be quickly on the go

Interesting as still available through their website at £179!

Check the depth of this, and look where you want to place it. These are long!
    Bad.Actor's avatar
Yes, narrow enough but as you say, very long.
I've had to dump my Dolce Gusto and move my Instant Pot across not to mention shifting the toaster to make space.
Wife is not impressed either as she hates the smell of freshly brewed coffee.
Been married 36 years and I've only just found this out.
  24. cjx's avatar
I take it that this doesnt froth the milk?
    Bad.Actor's avatar
No but a cheap wand frother would do that.
    Less maintenance in this case.

Terrible brand imho. Leaks, cheap plastic and takes up a huge amount of space as well as finding someone to repair Melitta is near impossible

I tried it with a black bean brew, the coffee been brew was much better. It’s definitely compatible with coffee beans

hi there, i am looking to buy a bean to cup but not sure on what to buy.
I would like to have a mug full if possible not just espresso. I have a Nespresso Vurtero at the moment but sick of buying over priced pods. thanks
  28. Daniel_Hartley's avatar
This will fill a 150mil cup without any milk so will be great. I have just replaced my vertuo machine and will never look back
    JimMc's avatar
My Krups machine does the same, 150ml. That's its version of a "long coffee". If you have a decent sized mug it's like a little espresso in the bottom, I always find myself topping it up with the kettle.
