The Gaming Z version (which this is) uses the XTX silicon which is normally reserved for the water cooling cards... ie its the best binned silicon.

    Is that good or bad?

Presume bad cause of high power use?

Has anyone experienced screen flicker issues with these AMD 6000 series cards? I've read online it can be poor quality HDMI / DP cable, PCIe power cable and driver issues but no one knows for sure the real issue.

And no one ever will. Mine was a driver issue but haven't seen a peep of the problem since late last year (knocks on wood). The combination of hardware and description of symptoms vary so wildly that it's hard to blame any one issue/causes. Sometimes a "screen flicker" may produce the same symptoms from different causes, vice versa.

I would recommend adding a mountain of salt when going on Reddit and find AMD driver release discussions. I was on both side of the coin: When it didn't work, I could relate to the people complaining. But when it did work properly, I couldn't relate at all to those having problems, despite some people having the same card as me.

Those without problems won't frequent those discussions but those that do have problems will. All this means is that the issue *could* happen to you. If you find a thread full of people complaining about the same thing then there might be a more likely chance you'll experience the same problems as them... although I've come across those threads more than once myself and still couldn't relate.

We don't really know the extent of the problem, only whether some has more of the same problems than others. And sometimes, people will find a workaround to those problems, which can be beneficial.

Buy it and try it. If you have problems, return it. That's sadly the only way within the cooling off period (and is why stress-testing is so important). It's similar to buying an office chair; you've got to try it before deciding to keep it, otherwise there's no point in having an uncomfortable chair. The chair may, or may not be, built for you. Just like how a graphics card may or may not work well with your PC. (edited)

The one card that already sells at the lowest AMD price new. Second hand should be a substantive saving, as the poster knows. This is NOT any kind of significant saving. Too may people here posting for clout, and no other reason.

Anyhoo, we are very close to the release of the 7800XT, which will push the 6800 family down pricewise.

I got the deal on a new AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT 16GB GDDR6 Graphics Card (+ Free Starfield Game)
£519.98, so that people can compare.

I would wait as prices are coming down, and the deal above was worth it even though I had to upgrade my PSU too!! Also, they do use a lot of power.

Undervolting is the way to go, minimal loss in performance but substantial reduction in power draw.

Adrenalin 23.7.2 (WHQL Recommended) is latest driver and with 23.7.1 AMD fixed a ton of issues.

This discusses 23.7.1 and states that if you use an Oculus it is Meta's firmware for this that is now the problem and not AMD drivers. Yes it is focused on 7900XT/XTX but still applies to previous generation >
