"around less than 1 km from Paignton Beach"

Factually correct, although the hotel's on the promenade, and the beach and pier are across the road.
Would be more accurate to say less than 50m.

Great deal, and head off somewhere out of Paignton. Sorry, used to live and work there!

    Steam train to Dartmouth
Coast path to Goodrington Sands & Brixham
    Ferry to Brixham/Torquay
    GWR train to Torquay/Dawlish/Teignmouth/Exeter/Topsham/Exmouth
    Plenty of £2 buses

How can or did they make Paignton look that glamorous

Having lived in Paignton previously, i can say they’ve done a great job of making it look lovely. It’s a drug ridden and run down dump. This hotel is a diamond in the rough, if you step outside you will be underwhelmed and that’s putting it lightly!!

I'm very suspicious of the Secret Escapes rating of 8.9 based on 101 reviews.
The hotel's been open for a month. Is it possible Secret Escapes received 101 reviews from completed stays in that time?
I can't find the actually reviews on the Secret Escapes listing, so they could be making it all up.

If you want to check reviews, try TripAdvisor with 11 reviews posted since January 2024.
And Google Reviews has another 10 reviews.

Fully agree I don't rate these privilege hotel deal sites at. Can almost always stay cheaper in a different hotel.

Two brand new hotels next door to one another have recently been opened in beautiful Paignton only a matter of metres away from The Golden sands & beaches

Good deal but there's no option for children?

There's no family rooms, you'd need to book 2 rooms.
Here's a link to the hotel's own site for more information.

I think this is owned by the same people as the Mercure next door. Car parking there is v tight and costs £15 a night. If you take your car out and can't find a space on return it's tough you still have to pay The hotel last year was still going through teething issues. We could not check in until after 5pm as room not ready etc. it was a bit faulty towers.

Hopefully this new one next door won't get the same issues

I should have done my research on Paignton it's really is err an interesting town !

Paignton isn't for everyone, certainly the town needs to be regenerated, like most uk seaside towns, it's been neglected for 20 years. However the seafront and harbour are nice. Just a 5 minute walk is Preston beach, 15 minutes walk to the lovely Goodrington, which also has the UKs largest water park.

You're a 5 minute drive from Torquay has the same issues with it's town, but the seafront is having a bit of a revival.

Certainly not as bad as some people like to make out.
