Love my scala, such an understated car that hardly anyone seems to have heard of! Not that exciting but very practical with a 467 litre boot, much better than the golf i had which is about 380 litre. I'm a dad to 2 young children so I now sadly get excited about practicality!! Think it got what car best family car award IIRC.

I have this car, same power with DSG. Whilst smooth, the car is grossly underpowered. The start stop kicks in as you want to go on a round about. My infotainment needed replacing (it’s a 22 plate) as it was drawing power even when car was off and was killing the battery, Leaving me stranded. Boot space is good. Though you can’t fit two adults in the back with a toddler seat on one side. Cigarette lighter is wired to a constant fuse so your dash cam stays on, again threatening the battery level. No biggie to take it out and in but occasionally I do forget and becomes an annoyance when you have a close call and you haven’t plugged in the dash cam.

    I wouldn’t buy again.

Seems like the only people saying that a 1L isn't underpowered are the ones who've never actually used it for anything other than the OAP midweek shop. Sure, it'll be fine for a lot of the basic stuff you need a car for; but you're never going to be able to ask much of this engine. Sums up a lot of drivers today who aren't aware how to use their machinery.

I have a 1.5TSI in SE trim and it’s a good car. I don’t think I’d get the 1L though, underpowered for a family car

I have the 1 ltr SEL and it’s definitely not underpowered. Same unit is in my Octavia estate- cracking motor

Is this replacement of Skoda rapid? (edited)

No, these are different cars. Scala is nearly identical to Golf, it's a standard C class car. So, if you don't have enough cash for golf, or Octavia is too big, than this car is for you. As per Rapid, its a stretched Polo (saloon version). In fact, there is a Model WV Polo Sedan produced for some markets, and Skoda Rapid must be technically identical to that.

I have the 110PS 1l SE DSG and it's a basic but comfortable car. Nice to drive and well built.

I have the 1.0 110 bhp version of this in my 71 plate Scala and the power is fine even when my wife, two adult sons and a boot full of luggage are in the car. However my wife has the 1.0l 95bhp engine in her Fabia (the one on the op) and it is chalk and cheese. It is pretty useless when the car is loaded up. I personally wouldn’t buy this engine but would definitely recommend the 1.0l 110bhp one as it is more than adequate if you don’t drive around like an a**ehole.

I reasonable price for a C class hatchback, especially comparing with tiny cars like i10 for 2-3 k less

It’s either 3 of these or a Tesla, I wonder which would work out cheaper

Lower of the two power options on the 1.0 litre and only has 5-speed gearbox. I'd rather pay extra for the 110hp with 6-speed.

I have been looking at 2020 or 2021 plate Scala's to replace my Astra. Are parts and servicing more expensive than a Vauxhall? I have never owned a Skoda. Although you see so many taxi firms driving Octavias, so they must be good cars.
