Assuming it’s just a design special rather than the game being included?

My switch is getting a bit battered now and I am very tempted to indulge in an OLED model BUT I keep hearing a new Switch is coming in H2 2024

No one knows for sure, Nintendo don’t tend to follow anyone else in terms of releases. But they keep their value fairly well so you could buy this and trade it for almost the same price when the new one comes. Even better, there’s a nearly new one on there for £259

Been toying with getting an OLED for yonks. Not really been a gamer since PS1 and the first Xbox. I like simplicity that I can just pick up and play even for say 10 mins every now and again.
I’ve tried the Retroid pocket 3+ but realised my faffing with emulator days are long gone.

Are there any great 2 player games to play when the switch is docked, that would probably swing it if there’s some decent 2 player games.

Thanks for reading of you got this far and any suggestions would be awesome

There are loads - depends what kind of games you like to play and who you're playing with. I play with my young son and when he's not hogging the console, we like co-op games as well as competitive . Two-player options range from assisting P1 (Super Mario Odyssey, Luigi's Mansion 3, Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu, Super Mario 3D World: Bowser's Fury) to being a second full player (Kirby Star Allies, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Minecraft, Minecraft Dungeons, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Pikmin 3, Yoshi's Crafted World, Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, Mario Party Superstars, Portal 2, etc). If you have an online membership you can also get SNES/NES/Mega Drive/GameBoy games on an official emulator 'virtual console'.

Sure buy small expensive electronic devices from Amazon and you'll end up receiving a potato in the parcel. Happened to me and to quite a few buying from Amazon.UK.
All the small expensive parcels are targeted by scams who work in Amazon. I wouldn't buy anything expensive from them. (edited)

Amazon is probably one of the safest online retailers, you can return and get a refund in 99.99% of the cases.

They make too many of these now, they're not special any more so aren't worth buying.
    jco83's avatar
They are special edition by definition. What they aren't is limited. Which is what some retailers misleadingly chose to call it

Unpopular opinion but I prefer that the game isn’t included (assuming that would bump up the price). Long time Zelda fan but I just didn’t get along with BOTW and assuming also this new one

Windwaker is a masterpiece. It manages to bring the charm of the pixel era to the 3D games.

I love the look of this and I love the game but I do feel the Pokémon OLED model is more eye catching.  Heat for the price, I’d certainly be tempted if I didn’t have an OLED Switch already.
    jco83's avatar
Splatoon 3 OLED model is even more eye catching

The that any OLED switch is 300 notes when a Streamdeck can be had for about 350 is insane.

Standard model Switch is £259.99 RRP
    Switch Lite is £199.99 RRP

    Nothing limited about this lol

Yeah I agree. Even when something is branded as limited, unless it comes with a certificate and number saying so, or has a unique number marked on the unit, i.e. 1 of 10,000 then its not limited edition. Special Edition and Limited Edition often get misinterpreted or branded.

Switched my V2 to this no regrets

Still say the Splatoon 3 edition is my fave due to the funky joycons design
    sniperpenguin's avatar
Same problem as this - No game included.

Thanks for this OP! Bought this the other day for £309 from Amazon so just got them to refund me a tenner

Sadly these are no longer limited editions just variants, I remember the limited edition 3DS's used to sell out straight away then become collectors items but these are now having to be reduced in order to sell them, it's a shame they didn't limit the nuumbers
    pb-live's avatar
Opposite for me. I hate limited editions, they only benefit the smug collectors. Special editions are where it’s at, not limited.

Heat! Shame Zelda TOTK is going to lose game of the year to Baldur's Gate 3 or Starfield.
    TTimms's avatar
I wouldn't be so sure, but either game deserves game of the year, both games are incredible.
  15. El.Dealerino's avatar
Does this come with the Ultra Hand power?
  16. pokedude4's avatar
i already have a good working switch since 2017, and the new one will be out next year, id wait tbh
    italkapple's avatar
If yours is from 2017, your switch is incredibly easy to mod. You’ll get increased performance, mods for games, chests, emulators & of course free games and dlc.

Do you guys know if the CeX-quoted trade in prices are legit? It's been a long time since I've traded anything in to them so can't remember if they try and low-ball you after checking stuff? Could trade in my original switch for £103 cash which could go towards this...
    greglowe1's avatar
Sell it privately you’ll get more unless it’s in really bad condition. CEX are known to knock down too.

Same price on Very now or £339.99 with the game
