Keep in mind that it was released in Feb 2022.
Only 2 years of OS upgrades from the global launch date of Nokia G21.
So no OS upgrades after Feb 2024. Thats only 7-months from now.

On the other hand "Nokia G21 receives in total 36 security updates from the global launch of the device. Other smart phones in the same price point receive on the average up to 16 security updates during their life cycle."

It's worse than that, as Nokia is quite underhand and launches phones with the previous year's version of Android (in this case, Android 11, even though Android 12 had been out for several months prior to launch). It does now have Android 13 on it, but won't get any more upgrades, just security updates when Nokia can be bothered.

I bought this phone a few months ago: the 4GB RAM and Unisoc chip worried me, but it's generally been fine. Obviously you will notice it's limits when playing games and such, but for banking apps, Amazon, Microsoft stuff and the like, it's been adequate.

From my own testing, the performance seems on par with the SD665 fitted to the Nokia 5.3 - yes that's an old chip, but I never had any performance gripes with it (the stock Android experience no doubt helps). (edited)

Is this better equiped than the one in the motorola g22?
I need to sort a phone for a relative, and have to keep the budget low, but still get a decent-ish device

Similar devices. Processor in this is a bit faster (yet still not very fast) according to benchmarks. Moto has wide camera lens. Screens are both HD ready 90Hz and not bright enough on a sunny day outdoors. Both have good sized batteries. (edited)
