    This or a Pixel 7?

Depends what you want. Pixel 7 has arguably the best cameras on a smartphone and vanilla Android. However the tensor chip is notorious for causing overheating or generally poor / mediocre battery life. Plus Pixel 8 is due to be announced in about 4 weeks so the P7 is likely to drop in price shortly after this.
Also, if rooting is important, the Pixel has more to tinker with, but this isn't for everyone.

The Nothing phone obviously is different spec, hardware and software. I think the glyphs are gimmicks, but hey at least they're trying something to stand out from the sea of generic rectangular blocks. Plus the OS is sleek and snappy, based on Vanilla Android with their own twist (unsurprisingly so as a significant proportion of the team behind Nothing were from the early OnePlus team).

Ultimately, you choose. That's the beauty of being a consumer! (edited)

This was available for £299 only a matter of weeks ago, all be it we cant go back in time, but it doesn't mean that this is a good price! It will drop somewhere soon enough with the nothing 2 available for not too much more.

rip off I got mine for £300 a year ago. Actually still well worth it at this price but it has been cheaper.

So what is it? A "rip off" or "well worth it at this price"?

Yes, it's been cheaper. If it's currently cheaper then post it. This is the current market.

Forgive me, but isn't this for a contract plan?

    Got my wife the 8gb / 256gb from O2 for £250.

She isn't impressed though, complains about the battery life in comparison to her 3 year old P30 (not pro).

I've had the Nothing 1 for over six months and it's a great phone.

I got the Tech Gear flip case as I'm paranoid about dropping/damaging the screen even though it's designed to be placed facedown.

I've not had any issues with the battery life yet.

I agree that the NP1 does feel 'premium' in the hand, and I've not had any complaints with it's performance either, however the Pixel 7 is indisputably faster if you care about the numbers, and far better for photography. Also Pixel is IP68 rated and (I think) has 5yrs of updates, compared to 4 for Nothing phones. Both support wireless charging, but the NP1 charges far faster on a cable than the Pixel.
