Only 1470mAh capacity so will just charge a phone about 50%

Power capacity is defined in Watt hours - the voltages of the magsafe battery pack and an iphone battery aren't the same and so the mAh numbers are not directly comparable.

at 7.8V and 1470mAh that gives 11.2 Wh for the battery pack
The iphone 12 mini has 3.81V and 2227mAh giving 8.5Wh
    Iphone 14 has 3.81V and 3279mAh giving 12.5Wh

So it will charge an iphone 12 mini 1.32 times or an iphone 14 around 90% (assuming 100% efficiency, in real world thermal losses happen)

The real question - will these products be relevant in 5 years ? If not don’t waste money supporting this filth

I agree with peew971, I bought this initially as a charger to slap on the back when my phone was running low. When it was around 20%, I put this on and it charged my phone to around 50-60%ish which wasn’t that great.

The way this is meant to be used is to keep this attached to the phone when the phone and the MagSafe battery are at 100%. Once the phone battery drops to 90%, the MagSafe battery kicks in to life and charges intermittently in the background to always maintain a charge of 90%. This lives on my phone for the majority of the day, I find it runs out at around 6pm depending on my use and I remove it from my phone which then has 90% for me to finish the day.

Whenever I use my phone and not want the extra bulk, I simply slide this off in my pocket and use my phone as normal. When it goes back into my pocket, it auto aligns and begins topping up my battery in the background. So it mainly stays inside the pocket and doesn’t really leave there.

I have no issues with charging speed as this is constantly attached and tops up the phones battery in the background

I much prefer this over a power bank and cable as there isn’t a wire dangling everywhere and I don’t feel tethered. Also came in handy when my AirPods had no charge. I would have liked to charge both this and phone via wireless charging instead of having to plug the cable in at night

“Is that a MagSafe wireless charger in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?”

Mine died 2 days after the 1 year warranty. If you get this, don't do what I did and leave it plugged in all the time, and sort of use it like a charger for your phone.

    Nice discount, crap product
    Heyhey1247's avatar
    Why?
  7. Peew971's avatar
Worth pointing out this is not a battery charger, you would want an Anker or similar for that. This is more of a battery extender, power is drained from it rather than your phone, which is a novel alternative to usb cable.

I have one. It’s crap. Luckily it was free. Had I purchased it, I would be refunding (edited)

thanks OP - read lots of reviews and the Apple Battery cannot be beaten for my use case. Combined with Amazon £7 off for pickup at Amazon locker so happy with £72 all in. Cheers!

People saying “Nothing beats a wire”, correct. This is for those times when you don’t have access to wired power.

Just keep a power bank with PD in your winter jacket or backpack ,cinese phones charge in 5 minutes

I got an Anker one here on hukd and paid under £30 for it. Works like a charm, but nothing beats the wire tbh
    zeb.mattey's avatar
I have both this and the anker, this is why nicer. Slimmer, nicer to hold, stronger magnet, and the anker one makes my phone hot as an oven

    No
Good product but good deal can’t be the good old usb cable so much
    Faster and efficient
    zeb.mattey's avatar
are you kidding? This is miles better than a power bank. It doubles as a wireless magsafe charger, you can easily hold and use the phone while it charges, you need no cable, it's light, fits in a pocket.

Standard power banks are for povos at this point
  13. mooooof's avatar
Still a little overpriced for me, would bite at closer to £50. Anker equivalents are very good value
  14. zeb.mattey's avatar
couple this with an iPhone mini for a lethal combo
  15. 2minutenoodles's avatar
Still quite a bit pricey for me, although it may not go cheaper.  I love how this sits flush with the Iphone mini unlike (more energy rich) alternatives.  It just looks a bit odd on the larger phones.  Heat.

Wish it came in different colours though…
    Peew971's avatar
I've had the complaint about the airpods but I'm always told "it's apple, why would it be a different colour, it's their branding". As if they don't do other colours for many of their products

is someone paying to get these expensive apple products hot? the comments and the heat don't correlate

Not for me I’m afraid. It’s a good deal for an apple product, no matter the opinions on it

Very very tempted, close to where it should be priced but doubting it will get cheaper

I use this as a charging dock and use occasionally when I don’t want to be connected by a cable
    Hotstuff692021's avatar
You should get a wireless charger right?

    A dock is stationary right?
