Why choose ORICO M.2 SSD enclosures?

ORICO has been focusing on electronic products for 13 years, with a mature industry chain and innovative ability to keep pace with the times. We pay great attention to product quality and continue to innovate, and 1-year after-sales service. The M.2 SSD Adapter offers the possibility to use the M.2 NVMe SSD as an external drive only through the USB port of a PC or laptop.

Features unique to ORICO:

1. Heat Dissipation:Built-in Metal cooling vest + silicone thermal pad, heat dissipation is fast, and the heat dissipation efficiency is 20%-30% higher than that of ordinary ssd enclosures. PS: SATA 5Gbps Model is not included cooling vest and thermal pad.

2. With Metal Cap: Prevent the interface from being exposed and damaged, protect the interface and improve the stability of the structure.

3. Capacity: Supports up to 4TB NVMe ssd.

4. Acceleration Protection: Support UASP, TRIM, SMART, 70% faster than conventional USB 3.1 read speed, 40% faster write speed, automatically identify errors, ensure file data security.

5. Tool-free: Slide installation without tools.

A. Use the silicone plug to fix the SSD. Just align the silicone plug to the ssd interface and press it lightly to install the SSD. The soft silicone plug protects the SSD fixing hole and avoids abrasion.
B. Connect the hard disk case cover to the hard disk case bayonet, and close the hard disk case with a slight push. It is easy to take out and will not wear out the SSD.

6.Multi-color optional: Black / Blue / Silver / Pink four colors available.

Warm Reminder

1.M.2 SSD is NOT included.
2.NVMe model case is not compatible with NGFF SATA M.2 SSD, vice versa.
3.For new unused SSD, it's necessary to make a partition at first, otherwise it can not be recognized.
4.It (http://4.It) is normal that the aluminum case heats up when using, and it doesn't affect normal use.

It's better to change to dollars when shopping in aliexpress and let your card do the exchange.

Yep, It's always in my Ali posts - 'Use a fee-free card and pay in USD to save a bit more'

Actualy, its even better if you choose the dual function SATA + NVMe one. List price for that is £15.71, then the store coupon applies: £8.08 For single orders over £15.35

    Code is M2NVME55

Total after tax came to £9.16!

    £9.16 > £8.33

Given these can only r/w at 1000MBs, they offer an opportunity to rip out your old low spec NVMe from your PC and recycle it as external storage, while replacing it with one of those ultra high spec 2TB devices that are so cheap these days.

    Yep, exactly that! Great idea!

I got one of these ORICO enclosures from amazon recently. Installed perfectly fine and it worked transfering stuff for barely 3 mins then it overheated and made the m2 drive stop working. The drive would not work in mutiple other slots I tested it on and it was 100% broken from being used in the ORICO enclosure.

I might have got a one off dodgy one but I would not recommend risking it imo.

Luckily I was transfering to the broken M2 drive and didn't put the other drive in where I had originals on..

I returned mine because I thought the plastic clips holding the thing together looked far too flimsy...

I went for a Jeyi from ALiExpress instead for £12...

Much nicer and no problems so far.

Do you have a link to the Jeyi, their official store show images of the unit but I can't find the M.2 nVME version

Thanks OP, I need one of these to udpadte the one in my Laptop.

I got this even cheaper by adding 2 to my basket then applying the code. 2 were $11.98. (and a few pence in Sterling). (edited)

These are not very good I tried to migrate PS5 from 2 TB TO 4TB and tried to move games to an additional NVME. Anyways just after few minutes the drives started giving errors.
    I will not recommend them.

Bought a similar case for £9.56 on 22 July, took around 12 days to arrive.
Seems well made, although the opening method got me scratching my head at first!
Drive easy to install, and works well.
Cheapest I could find at the time on Amazon was £16+... Don't know why they have to add such a huge markup.
    EDIT
It was this one... Yottamaster brand, NVMe/SATA type ... Looks like it's only £5.65now!

At that price I think it’s for M.2 SATA drives which are more expensive than the faster M.2 NVMe drives although that case is also on your link but the cheapest price is £7.28 although I don’t know if there is extra shipping or tax fees!? Also on your link is an enclosure that does both drives for £7.87!

One of the images depicts compatibility with these size SSDs: 2280, 2260, 2242, 2230 (so SteamDeck)

The pink one looks to be labelled and pictured wrongly as SATA 5Gbps with USB-A to USB-C (no NVME 10Gbps), but labelled as "Color: NVMe-10Gbps-Pink" and priced identically. So maybe don't pick up the pink one?

Liked my Orico SATA SSD enclosure from Ali Express, so will try one of these. (edited)

Problem with these cases is there is no heatsink which should also touch the aluminium case to cool down the ssd.
    rapidracer10's avatar
There actually is (I was pleasantly surprised).

I got a pink one from amazon, and it came with a thermal pad strip to put on the ssd and a little heatsink bit which sits on top. Have a P3 Plus 1TB inside and temps stay around 33-40 degrees C. I can add a photo later

Do you need a thin or thick thermal pad with the Nvme and enclosure?
  12. Limmy's avatar
Anyone recommend a good one for 2230 NVME? I want the benefit of the tiny size to reflect the enclosure size.
