Stainless steel interior is a sign of quality & dependability.

For cheap microwaves, always good to leave the door open for an excessive time (once done heating food), to allow any moisture to escape.

If you close the door straight away, you're "sealing" moisture inside which leads to the rust many experience.

Managing the moisture = reducing any rust

Just spoken to customer services the wrong model has been sent to every store in the country! They are accepting return and refund. Management haven't decided yet what to do about the mistake.

Look for an 'inverter' one. Looking at just over £100

We had a Panasonic cheap microwave but the internal metalwork rusted so if anything bellowed steam onto the top rusty flaky paint dropped into whatever was cooking. If I look into getting a microwave now I’m more conscious about it being better made, pretty sure the delonghi one we bought has a stainless internal casing for that reason

Had a Lidl grill go after 18 months, got a free replacement under warranty which lasted about 12 months, good comments so I will avoid this one

It’s still being advertised with a grill- no disclaimer - in a local Lidl as of 01/02/22.

There are several on the shelf

I seem to recall reading that these days low end Panasonic microwaves are actually just rebranded Vestel ones.

Careful with these cheap Vestel branded microwave ovens. I just returned a Sharp one that only lasted 8 months. Now got a much more expensive Panasonic flatbed one after getting a slagging off the missus

To help fellow members, the following may be useful:

Start will looking into the approach of:

    "Planned Obsolescence"

I have been a long term member of htukdl's - and my philosophy on making/selecting purchases has matured significantly.

I now accept that higher quality items, are unlikely to be cheaper or near the cost of those that are poor quality.

Secondly - A warranty that is worth its weight in gold - is something I specifically investigate.

Take a photo/snapshot of your receipt - email it to yourself.

Only buy products that have a decent warranty period.

Explore others experiences of warranty claims online - to avoid any "strings" or get-out clauses (e.g certain dehumidifier manufacturers will not honour their warranty if the filter is not cleaned every few weeks, or a vacuum manufacturer that will not cover the unit if the filter has been over extended).

Unfortunately - its no longer a simple case of 'warranty will cover it'. Terms and conditions - always apply

These microwaves are crap. Had three the paint always comes off inside in just over a year. never getting another. Trouble most microwaves are painted inside now.

Have people got refunds after buying this and it being the wrong model ? How much is the 1 you received ?picked mine up last night and it’s the wrong model no grill .
  15. eliHd452's avatar
Can you keep returning these after 8-10 months use when the paint inside peeks off? Get a new microwave ever year.
  16. Jdpv2's avatar
It's likely they are but Vestel are just another factory, 95% of all microwaves are make in just 3 factories anyway 🤷

Just tad over two years ago we got a Sharp ( meant to be a good one) microwave from Lidl. Broke just outside of warranty period. Made in P.R.C. by Vestel.
It was 50 quid on offer.
Before that we had cookworks/Russell Hobbs or similar from Argos-Less than £40, worked much, much longer, until it was just tatty(rusty) inside. (edited)

That's correct, somewhere in the mid range and up they become "true" Panasonic ones. Much like a lot of other white goods and televisions these days.

Most mainstream microwaves now feel about the same quality, i.e. not that great but do the job. (edited)

Geez, that can't be healthy! Are the ceramic inside Samsung ones a lot better I wonder?

No they dont they are cheap crap rebrands.

I had one literally everything broke on it.. the door cracked, the light went, the turntable stopped. I think they are made in China.

You may think I used it a lot, I didn't! Literally the first day I got it it broke and Panasonic told me to get it repaired. (edited)

I would trust my own experience (3 years) over a short review from a company thats taken out of its box and given it a quick look. Often those reviews samples are given free to companys so they arent overly critical. (edited)
