Great player, but I’ve been unlucky to have two of them with disc tray issues. The tray doesn’t close. However, my third one is working fine for now, and it’s an amazing Blu-ray player.

Is this the best bang for buck player out there?

I'd like one to have Dolby Vision to go with my big Sony oled. Needs to be able to play dvd and CD.

Can't remember if it's this Panasonic model or a Sony everyone goes on about?

The one everyone says to get is the Panasonic 820. I’ve got the Sony 700, and it’s mostly fine, except that I’ve never had a player more susceptible to fingerprints on discs, so they need a good polish first, and for reasons that make no sense turning DV on and off is a manual process if you don’t want it applying a DV wrapper to discs without it. Cheers mate, I'm looking for a budget one and think this ticks all the boxes tbh 😁

I opted for the 424 from Amazon.de as an alternative to this, which cost £10 more than this last month, but comes with the same HCX processor and HDR Optimiser as the 850, as well as WiFi. That's all at the expense of Dolby Vision, but I don't need that anyway as my TV is a Samsung ;))

I know it's not hugely important but why do some companies make so little effort when it comes to remote design ? Panasonic TV remotes look like they came from a goodmans TV from the 90s unless you spend 2K. I'm on the look out for the Panasonic 820 4k player but this is a good price. Heat!

    Because they're cheap.

What's worse they went out of their way to give the 820 a bad remote and thought the cheaper players should have an even worse one.

You can find molds for some of these remotes decades back.

Just pulled the trigger on this as it's nearly 200 quid cheaper than the 820 and according to the avforums it's a real decent player.

Do you know if this upscales lower resolution media?

Nasty remote and my player glitched too much to keep.

Mine has been perfect. Use it for 4K Dolby Vision discs.

Great little player. Get yourself a decent remote on ebay and its perfect.

Can you recommend a remote? Thanks

the supply of bluray players is drying up, so if you want to be able to play UHD disks and DVDs in the future, this might be a good time to buy a player before it's too late.

I'm actually thinking of pulling the trigger on this one as a back up for my 820!

Got one of these as a refurb from the Panasonic eBay outlet a couple of years ago. Excellent little machine, outputs HDR10+ and Dolby Vision from all discs I've played on it. It doesn't have a fan so is pretty quiet too.
USB port is useful for connecting a hard drive/USB flash drive - it'll play pretty much anything including 4K HDR rips in mkv format. All look excellent on my Panasonic OLED.
    Highly recommended.

Also worth noting that for £15 you can buy a multi region hack remote on eBay that will make the dvd only part multi region. (Not bluray) Usefull for anyone with lots of region 1 dvds. Search Panasonic multi region remote.

I've only got blu rays so I guess this is over the top for me
