sorted byHad a set of 8 over 7yrs ago mostly used in TV remote and later a small LED sensor light in a cupboard. The remote ones worked perfectly the whole time, lasted a long time before charge. Only 3 of the 8 are still going though. Got 8 new of these 800mah ones 3 yrs ago for use in more sensor lights in cupboards. One went dead 18mths on but I kept recharging it with the others (the lights take 3, the charger 4) and it eventually started working again. Now another one has gone. We're talking relatively few recharges compared to the advertised 2000+ and they're failing, so I think its just our usual "1st world" marketing "honesty". But this is still a better failure rate than I've had with other makes.
Some smart chargers I've used are a little too fussy in charging old cells, and I've had luck in using a dumb charger to revive old cells.
If you don't have a charger already, there are good quality chargers out there that also don't require you to charge cells in pairs. One I've recommended before is Ansmann's Comfort Smart charger (amazon.co.uk/dp/…6DT), and Amazon have a good price on the 4-cell version at the moment (£7.90). It needs to be powered from a USB socket, so if not convenient then there are others out there that may be more suitable.
