I was about to ask how would this compare to an Oral B iO5 which is about £30 more on offer - but then I wondered how different is this to that flagship product? Think I fall for the marketing and a lot of the features that aren't necessarily about cleaning teeth.

Yes, cheapest Sonicare is enough. I have used the cheapest to most expensive, the cleaning is exactly the same, you get more features like more modes but it still cleans the same.

For a Sonicare toothbrush after like 1-2 years a screw (or screws) inside gets loose from repeated use (or from dropping the toothbrush) which means you get the dreaded buzzing noise. If you are under warranty, the RMA process is quite fast, or you can DIY fix it which is quite easy as well. The battery is replaceable if you know how to solder as well, the lithium battery inside Sonicare degrades after around 2-years but you still get half a month's usage at worst.

I don't know about Oral B, they only recently did the vibrations tech in the iO-series like Sonicare so I think it will be similar as well. The Oral B non-vibration toothbrushes I find is rubbish.

I have used other cheap Chinese-branded ones but they die pretty quickly. I'd go with the cheapest Sonicare or cheapest Oral iO toothbrush. Always factor in the extra cost of replacement brushes as well!
