I was checking the reviews on this and it seems it’s one of the better headsets out there.

It has superior field of view and is a great standalone headset. If however you wish to drive it with PC games you’ll need a Nvidia 4000 series cards and not the 3000 (according to reviews) otherwise a Quest 2 will do.

The 128gb is sufficient over the 256gb version as it simply means swapping games out if you truly needs the space (the 6 games take about 22% of the storage).

That’s my take on it so far, I really want a VR headset so I’ll be looking around until January 10th.

I have a GTX 1070 with the Pico 4 and honestly it works perfectly fine! I use a separate wifi6 wireless router to create a bridged network hosted from my PC, with headset connected using Virtual desktop, so I get a 1gbps link to the pc, perfect for total wireless pc gaming within the same room as the PC (could move the router to any room as long as the cable can reach)

I'm not an expert with noticing graphical issues, (of course a better GPU could help, but I don't believe for a second that the 3000 series is not more than capable) but with playing most games it's perfectly fine (ofc can't test ray tracing) even beatsaber.
Did see a noticeable delay with Ragnarok however, so your experience may vary. (edited)

Ordered one of these from Very yesterday with 20% discount for new credit accounts using code "WELCOME" which worked out as £303.99 plus 3.99p+p.
Was going to order another Quest 2 after my son had one for Xmas but seems more logical to get the Pico 4 so we've got one of each... Also had to spend a chunk more on the Quest to make it comfortable with a bobovr headstrap plus batteries so it's by far the cheaper option not having to add on those initial extras. (edited)

Father had this unit and had a fair few issues with bugs when using via PCVR. He swapped for the Quest 2 and prefers that.

When I compared the both, I noticed some suttle clarity improvements which is expected with the higher resolution but colours and contrast levels didn’t seem as good. The FOV to me didn’t seem any different. For me, this is not the big improvement people to say it is over Quest 2.

It's good to know there is a competitive alternative to Facebook VR now. I'm not quite bought into VR yet, I don't have a super gaming PC setup, but if these standalone options continue to get better and cheaper (and less controlled by Facebook) then at some point I could be tempted.

Bought one the other day, it's great.
Virtual desktop is a must for PCVR in my opinion, but that is another £14.99 you'd have to spend.

Can't wait to see how this headset develops.

Yeah virtual desktop literally is a must for PCVR. I was going to return mine after I initially hooked it up and it looked like a watercolour. A bit of tinkering and I use VD tethered for sim racing and it looks great once I turned off asw in VD and Steam.

My router is in another room and cabling the PC to it isn't possible. Maybe get a separate router at some point.

The virtual cinema thing in VD is also awesome.

Can you connect it to a pc? I've got a 3070ti so I'm looking for a suitable VR. this seems like a decent price compared to the quest 2

I have this headset but I don't rate it. I bought it to use for SIM racing games with a wired connection and the clarity is terrible, everything is so soft and blurry.

I have a Rift S and the Rift S for me was considerably better in terms of wired PCVR comfort and quality. The PC streaming app Pico has just seems to not deliver high enough quality. You may have better results with VD but I found it so uncomfortable in comparison to the Rift S so I didn't spend much time with it.

I bought a Valve Index and it's miles better in my experience for what I'm using it for. I've also ordered a HP Reverb G2 V2 to try out to compare.

The speakers on the Pico are just ok also I found. (edited)

I've seen quite a few reviews saying that the quality isn't as good as the specs would suggest. It put me off buying one, happy to stick with my Q2 for now.

i moved from Oculus rift to Quest 2 and whilst the standalone games / apps are decent enough i regret it for Alyx : which is far far better on the Oculus rift1st gen - maybe OLED? regardless, quest 2 gives me motion sickness, Oculus rift far from it!... no idea why! - wonder if PICO would avoid this? one day may go Valve Pro 2 and pray thats better....

Anyone else get motion sickness on alyx?

What are your thoughts between this and the Quest 2? The reviews all seem to say that the Pico 4 is a better headset, and better value, but the Meta ecosystem is much better. Is the selection of games and experiences that much worse, to the extent that it's better to go for the Quest 2? I'm not looking to do PCVR gaming. I just want something to muck about with. I have the PSVR, but I find that there's not too much I want to play on that. Plus, setting it up is a bit of a faff.

Reading up on it the past couple of days the consensus seems to be: no PC = buy quest 2. I agree after checking both stores, the pico 4 is just missing out on too much if you don't have access to PC games.
