sorted byWith Gigabyte version from Tech Next Day being cheaper and running cooler (3fan design) + being shipped from UK, I'd take Gigabyte. (edited)
If your GPU uses 160 Watts, say, then you must cool that much heat energy. Yet there are people who think a 105 Watt AMD CPU needs more cooling than a 250 Watt Intel CPU because of "it runs hot" anti-physics non-logic.
Undervolting should be usually considered with AMD GPUs, because AMD is conservative with die voltages. However, there are so many people who then claim their GPU is 'faulty' because some new game crashes the undervolted card after months of happy usage with other games- undervolting ALWAYS comes with the issue of LIMITED stability, and the need to potentially raise the voltage for specific games. People who want 100% stability should never undervolt.
Unless I'm mistaken, that is for a 3 fan Gigabyte model. Some people may only have enough space for a dual fan, or possibly have brand preference. (edited)
Lowering the volts and raising the max clocks worked well for me. 2800MHz @ 1.1v.
In general, Junction temp being high does make the fan spin up and It seems to deny the GPU from attempting the maximum boost MHz. Either way Games play well so nothing to really worry about.
It's a shame it's only £100 cheaper after two years . . .
Although my card runs within spec (110C is the max temp AMD claims they may operate at)- in stock, albeit I'd ideally see the temps being lower - it runs hot when you compare it to other models with better heatsink / more fans (perhaps I should have made it clearer) . This can be achieved by undervolting with minimum performance loss. IF your GPU crashes when undervolted or is unstable - it means that you've done something wrong - normally in the Voltage department and the values need changing, plenty of AMD users run their cards undervolted with brilliant results - successful reducing not only power draw but also temperatures. After all, why wouldn't you want your GPU running cooler? Also, I totally don't get your comment about AMD allowing people to see the junction temperatures.
Edited my comment, I might have had one too many when I was typing it last night. (edited)
