might as well get a 3rd or even 2nd gen pro at this point, more storage and better screen. 128gb 3rd gen pro was selling for £529 the other week day at costo and that was new. (edited)

Would go for this if it was 5th generation

5th gen feels poorly made. The back is so thin you can press lightly with a normal hold and see your fingers trigger the screen from the back! Plus the casing creaks and cracks.

Check out the Louis Rossmann youtube channel to see just how badly your Apple junk is made, and how Apple engineer it to fail shortly after the warranty period is up. Did you know once upon a time, when the SSD in a VERY expensive Apple lappy failed, you could boot off an external USB stick- but with the latest models you cannot? Did you know the flash memory in a Apple device is designed to suffer corrosion failures, so it needs fixing long before the flash memory cells are worn out be excess writes?

This is not a company that deserves supporting. What do you think Apple will do when the new EU law FORCING Apple to make the battery in all Apple products user replaceable kicks in? That's going to be a day to remember.

Anything that has 64gb storage should be filtered out.

Not as limiting on this version as it has usb c, so just plug a drive in!

Can student discount be used on refurbs?

    Nope

Seems Apple more focused on selling refurb products. Its a devious yet brilliant marketing ploy as they have hiked up alot of newer models products if bought new and not reduced older models if bought new (unless I am mistaken) apart from some promotions from some resellers. (edited)

Yes it is a bit of a con. Normally the previous generation is removed and the new one replaces it at the same price. Now they keep the old ones and increase the price of the new ones!
