This is a great deal. To get this price along with free gifts and free shipping ( I chose a roll of brown insulation tape and a spanner ) first do a self referral, just use a temp email and then you get a £5 code. To get free shipping I added a 99p spanner.

I find it hard to believe that there's still factories somewhere in the world churning out cheapo tape decks. Expensive quality ones I can still understand, as I know there's still a niche thing for tapes, but I can't get my head around anybody wanting to buy rubbish quality ones for any reason. Are these things (very) old new stock, perhaps? Just seems a bit weird. Maybe I'll get myself one and at the same time pick up a brand new CRT TV which only has a scart connection on it.

Even an expensive one would very likely now have the same crappy basic tape mechanism. I believe there is just a dozen companies that still make the tape mechanism, all of them Chinese, and all of them are a bad copy of a Japanese budget deck - made by Tanashin - which was the last deck in production. And these clones have been made cheaper and cheaper, corners cut..

So the best tape mechanism (clone) today is a million miles from the tape mechanisms of the past made by the likes of Philips or Panasonic or even Tanashin. Same is happening to hi-fi Blu/DVD/CD drives and Blu/DVD/CD writers.. because few people are using/buying them.

Hi-Fi retro tape heads are best looking for a vintage deck. (edited)

some music artists like Lady Gaga often sell their latest album on Tapes at their gigs it's a niche market but people still buy them like they do vinyl

All the Human effort required to manufacture this total piece of e-waste. Makes one despair.

no, these are made on a automated production line and very limited human effort. (edited)

Not to be “that” person, but isn’t this kind of like fraud? It’s meant to be refer a friend, not refer yourself lol

It's only fraud if you don't like yourself and don't get on with yourself

Presumably the spanner and tape are to mend the poor quality ghetto "blaster"
  13. lumsdot's avatar
Most likely mono, but played through 2 speakers , so “stereo”

No, that would be a breach of trading standards. It states it has stereo sound......because it has.

Go to a car boot sale. The original ones are better quality

    tom_parry's avatar

Are the speakers really stereo...most of the new ones like this are only mono, even if they look stereo.

Needed one of these about 30 years ago
    deleted2936900's avatar
Nope. Even then you needed something better than this steaming

Would have been more useful if they used the space inside for a Bluetooth receiver and a house a few rechargeable batteries.

Could even be a "project" to get the guts out of a Anker Soundcore or similar and transplant into this. (edited)
    deleted2936900's avatar
    Sounds great in theory......

But you'd still end up with a cheap and nasty tacky looking shell that probably won't last 5 minutes.
Better to start with something more solid in the 1st place surely?

Like someone above said, get a proper one at a car boot.
