You only need to spend a couple of quid more to get a decent tape.

True. I do find it a bit odd that it wears out by looking at it though! Good 'ol Rolson. Only the best.

I find with these cheaper yolks, quality control is the main issue. So you might get one that's 100%, but to find one, you either need to look through them in person, or win the Amazon tape measure lottery.

I purchased one of these tape measures. I extended the tape no more than 5’ and released the recoil button. The tape retracted fully at which point the metal retaining clip at the very end of the tape broke off with the tape now fully enclosed within its case and with no means of withdrawing the tape to take subsequent measurements. It’s very poorly made.

Not sure how you can really mess up a tape measure. But Rolson will.

I have two of these, and the lock on both of them immediately broke. Would not recommend to a friend.

Mine broke on first use, about 10 cm of the tape and broke off when I wound the tape up after stretching it out fully. Refund was easy without even needing to return the tape
