sorry...but another 1 year protection water based stain being sold as a '5 year' one ...same as the ducks back

just redone all mine after 3 coats on all my fencing last summer

if your fence gets a lot of sun you will be touching it up next year

keep your receipt ...take pictures of your faded fencing next year ...complain to ronseal and you'll get vouchers for when you re do it (edited)

I'm going to partially disagree on this. I don't know if different colours will be more effective, previously we've used the red cedar which was applied with a brush and it held up nicelymfor a couple years, although that wasn't the "plus" variation.

I painted my fences with Slate Grey last year and they have held up really well and still very vibrant colour wise.

I also painted some sleepers with the same Slate grey but also some with Black Oak, and they have been mostly terrible, faded and totally failed despite plenty of thin coats. The high traffic areas - table, benches and raised beds are well worn but the table legs themselves and low traffic areas are fine.

I've been advised to give all the sleepers a rough sand this year before painting and it should absorb the paint better. We shall see.

Whether it made much difference I don't know but for the fence panels I used a sprayer and for the sleepers I used a brush. (edited)

I got this last year, I used it on old fence panels and a new one which had just been replaced.
    All are rough-cut unsanded timber.
I scrubbed heavily and sprayed with bleach to kill moss etc before painting.
It went on well and still looks good.

Awful paint. We did our fences in the garden last year. Within 3 months it was starting to go green & colour fading on the fence that was exposed to the elements.
Used ducks back on our patio fence & no issues with that whatsoever.
