Has been reduced from £500 to £400 a few times and worth grabbing one when it does. Tuned by the late audio engineering legend Ken Ishiwata as his last project before he passed (hence the 'Tribute' moniker), and although it lacks an internal DAC it gets many sterling reviews including several respectable reviews arguing that this is one of if not the best sub £1000 amp available. If you live near a Richersounds shop I'd highly recommend going in and having a listen. For those thinking about speaker pairing you can't go wrong with the B&W 606 S2 anniversary editions.

Note also that it has Aptx Bluetooth so good for hifi quality streaming from e.g. Tidal via your phone.

Aptx is not HIFI quality, APTX HD is not even that level. LDAC codec is the only one close to that and it is not true Hi Res

The bluetooth means it does have a DAC but just for that.

I use wi-fi for Tidal and other streaming. What's the max bitrate this does?, CD quality is 1411kb/s which my streamer shows.

Forget hi-res but it's only hocus pocus regardless

It's not. Just at this level the kit isn't good enough to make a discernable difference

This looks good to me and should get more heat.

General question for those in the know: what would be better, this or the Marantz PM6007? I read one review which said this has the "warmer" sound of the two and I like that.

Depends on the music you like and speakers. Rotel is a very good all rounder but excels in rock/metal/dynamic music. I have it paired with Dali Zensor 7 and Maranz wasn’t even close to Rotel. Funnily enough I tested Rotel vs Naim Supernait 3 and XS 3 in Richer Sounds and Naim XS3 was better but not clearly better. You can hear clear difference when compared with Suoernait 3, but the model is from another league, it’s £3K+ level. The guys in Richer Sounds were stunned how capable Rotel is.

Wrong, Rotel and others often underrate power. This amp delivers big current too into low impedance loads which you'll need to learn about.

I'm looking to power two 100W/4-8 Ohm speakers and can't seem to be able to work out the specs to match an amp for that. I've tried googling it but it's not clear to me if the impedance needs to be the same/lower/higher, same with watts. I suppose amp needs to be lower or equal to not blow the speakers but not too low?

Also wouldn't something like this for the same price richersounds.com/den…tml be a good value with a lot more of functionality?

A 50w per channel amp will be happy running 100w speakers. Increasing amp Watts won't blow the speakers. It just means there's more power available at the amp if you crank the volume up. Speaker impedance needs to be matched to the amp though. Your 4/8 ohm figure. Which by the way is standard. If in doubt search amp pairings with the make and model of your speakers, and you'll find lots of good advice out there for them.
