This is also the new 1. It's the second gen but the non brushless version.

Also worth noting the brushless one is £239.99 just for the bare tool. (edited)

I ordered a few things the week before last from Ryobi direct, 6 items to be precise. I was due to receive all 6 items the next day, and right enough I did receive one last Saturday, but oddly DPD said they had trouble with delivering the others and would take them to the collection point nearby for collection last Sunday.

Well day after day of broken promises by DPD, each day messaging me to say there had been a problem and delay, so they would be taken to the collection point next day, only for them not to do that, and so on it went the whole of last week. I spoke to Ryobi several times, and they were very helpful to be fair, but Ryobi and I was promised they (DPD) would deliver to me on Friday. Well a got another message Friday morning saying the same thing as before, so I got back in touch with Ryobi, and they spoke again with DPD, and they were again promised that a special Saturday delivery would take place. So we were given a time of between 9.30-10.30am yesterday. No delivery, then a message saying there had been another problem and that they would deliver to a collection point today, then a separate message to say they would try to deliver to me again on Monday! I eventually managed to speak with somebody at DPD, and eventually yesterday afternoon they finally delivered my items - well, some of them. Two of the 5 items have not turned up and DPD have no idea where they are. Maybe it's just me and my local DPD, but I have had problems with DPD in the past both as a sender and receiver, so I'm just putting this out there that the DPD delivery 'service' is awful and completely unreliable.

I have made it clear to Ryobi that I will not buy direct from them again, as it has been far too much hassle and wasted time waiting for a delivery and having to make calls to find out what on earth is going on. Just something to bear in mind.

Sounds terrible! DPD is usally great and I never had any issues with them. Seems like there may be a bad apple or two in your local DPD branch.

Also did you ask for compensation from Ryobi? I heard someone else had a issue with Ryobi (not as bad as yours) and they were sent a free 5.0ah battery for gesture of goodwill. (edited)

Great deal! I have been monitoring this for few months now, and no doubt this is the best price with the 5.0Ah Battery & Charger! Ordered and heat added!

Does Roybi make a gun that fires descent size nails rather than the pins this fires? Like 3-4mm??

Doesn't it work with the 50mm nails supplied with this then?

I have this. I use it for light diy jobs. No issues at all. That's a good deal when you consider the cost of a 5amp battery.

is anyone else's paypal playing up on this website?
    moosheep's avatar
    moosheep
Yes, paypal required enough copies of id to run a decent id theft scam. This on top of the verification dance for the credit card company. And then nothing, no sign of the order or the credit card being charged. Not bothering with the Ryobi site anymore.

I want a nail gun for general DIY. Am I better off getting a 16g gun on account the thicker nail can also handle a bit of structural work? I know the 18g is mainly for finishing but could you also use it to say build a shed?
    AlphaFox's avatar
    AlphaFox Author
I think you would possibly need a 15 gauge for shed.

I have just brought the B&Q deal 1st gen. Is the 2nd gen better. Much better ?.

Here's a comparison on the 16 guage models. Looks like the bump fire has been removed from gen 2, but it is lighter and stands on it's battery when placed upright. Me personally, I would go with gen 1.
