Seems a good deal as the battery is £79.99 and the charger is £38.99 meaning the chainsaw is £41.01 The newer HP version doesn't seem to be too much different, cuts faster, but run time is not as long, and this saw is a brushless anyway.

The 12" saw is a much better choice than the pruning saw as it does have an oiler and roller at the tip. Cordless saws are also very quiet, especially compared to petrol versions, and these days have realistic battery life.

Us novices shouldn't buy this or we'll die

Probably a HP version on way, if not already on there. This happened with their nail guns.

There already is an HP one, but it's expensive with the bare tool costing £190, and it doesn't appear to be as well made, nor much different in specs

Decent price but if you’re going to be cutting wood up for a log store, you might struggle with 12” on some rounds, 16 -18” is the bare minimum you should be looking at.

No option for delivery to Northern Ireland. 😞

The unfortunately reality of the current border setup that mean companies are reluctant/cant send anything with high capacity batteries.

I bought one some time ago. From new it had a faulty switch. The saw was replaced, but it took about three weeks. The replacement is ok. Fine for quick little jobs, but IMO, no replacement for a light two-stroke saw.

I've had this for 5 years it's ok , I carry mine in my van and if I see wood I can cut it up and get it in the van, doesn't replace a petrol chainsaw but stil handy

The locking system they use to keep the chain tight is absolute bobbins. Mine came loose constantly. That was the petrol version though so maybe if this one doesn't vibrate as much... *shrugs*. (edited)

Ryobi haven't produced petrol machines in a while now, there aren't any reports of this particular mechanism coming loose.

Have this saw. Not bad for cutting up the occasional log in the garden or firewood. Eats batteries, and that 4ah won’t last very long. If you’ve got a few larger logs to cut up you’ll be pausing for an hour of 2 for charging. That’s also an old style battery that’s missing the extra battery terminals that benefit some new HP tools.

Ah, will do in a pinch for a future zombie apocalypse! £139.5 tool only on Amazon, but an extra £20 for battery & charger IANB!
