A key thing to consider is the update situation with these devices. That Oppo model is confirmed to get 3 years of OS updates and security updates the A35 is confirmed to get

4 generations of OS upgrades and up to 5 years of security update

So in terms of overall live cycle the Samsung will offer longer years of service vs the Oppo model.

For the price different the A35 would win it here for me, better dust/water resistance, Gorilla Glass Victus+, e-sim support with dual standby is useful especially if you travel abroad. Has BT5.3 vs 5.2 and finally the processor as much as I hate to say it about an Exynos chip scores higher in artifical benchmarks from what I can see against the Oppo phone (real world they probably perform about the same).

There are differences between the cameras but that's often a user preference side but I've not seen any side by side comparisons for these 2 phones (Samsung tend to do well in camera tests). The Oppo has faster charging too in it's favour and does offer double the storage capacity out of the box which you can expand cheaply on both and 128GB as starting storage is enough for most, mass storage you can offload your videos/music etc to an SD card for very little extra later.

For the sake of a few quid, the Samsung seems the better deal at these prices, if the price gap was larger... then we might argue differently.

This was tempting, but I picked up an A55 for £295!

If you have access to perkz, BLC etc. You can get the 128gb version for £295 as there is £50 cashback and £50 trade in for any phone. £340 for 256gb. A35 is £205 for 128gb and £250 for 256gb. They have gone up unfortunately. I got A35 for £188.
