SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE CHINESE JUNK AFFAIR AND OTHER STORIES

In Sherlock Holmes and The Chinese Junk Affair, Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson are called upon once again to save Queen and Country.

Upon receiving a card from Sherlock’s brother Mycroft, the duo are debriefed by the Prime Minister on an astounding fact: a man named Rodger Hardy claims to be able to transport matter from one place to another through electricity, in what he calls transposition.

As the threat of Hardy selling his discovery to other countries weighs on the Prime Minister, he enlists Holmes to find out whether such a feat is possible, and whether or not Britain has anything to worry about.

Can Sherlock solve what seems to be an unsolvable mystery in time, and help Britain?

In Sherlock Holmes and the Tick Tock Man, Holmes and Watson are holidaying in Derbyshire when rumours of an unexplained death reach them.

The town’s German clock-maker was found dead in his cottage, door wide open, and his pet raven has taken to flying around town, screeching foreign words and putting everyone on edge.

The local vicar and physician confide in the duo that, despite the clock-maker’s will indicating he had left a hefty amount of money to the vicarage, no such sum had been found in the cottage, making them believe the death to be premeditated. Unable to resist the mystery, the Dr Watson and Sherlock Holmes soon find themselves tangled in a web of secrets.

Can Holmes find out what happened, or will the mystery go unanswered?

In Sherlock Holmes and the Trophy Room, Sherlock and John are hired by Viscount Siddems to solve a seemingly impossible conundrum.

His most prized trophies, kept in a trophy room and surrounded by man traps and geese, so no one can get in unwanted at night, are disappearing from the room, one by one. Seeking help in finding the mystery thief, Lord Siddems enlists the help of the duo to catch the perpetrator and unmask his methods of getting past his security measures.

Can Sherlock unmask the thief before he steals again?

SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE TANDRIDGE HALL MURDER AND OTHER STORIES

The year is 1888 and Doctor Watson and Sherlock Holmes meet once again to crack a handful of new cases in this compelling collection.

Sherlock Holmes and the Tandridge Hall Murder

1888. Holmes and Watson are taking a stroll through Green Park, Holmes explaining his disenchantment with the dullness of London criminals. Suddenly, a terrified man approaches the famous duo and explains he has borne witness to a brutal murder. The pair are called to the countryside and the grand Tandridge Hall by the young man, Harold Norman, to solve this monstrous case.

Tension arises with the locals, as, with no evidence of an altercation, no one believes Norman’s tale. But Holmes soon finds a body in the river near the alleged scene of the crime, under a boat, which confirms Norman’s grisly story. With the evidence of the crime’s existence out in the open, will Holmes be able to uncover the mysterious killer?

Death at the Cricket

1896. Dr Watson has been invited by Stamford to watch a cricket match at the home of cricket benefactor, Lord Sheffield, and as Holmes has no cases, he joins them. The weekend is disrupted when Stamford’s body turns up on the first morning, and a valuable painting of Lord Sheffield’s has gone missing.

All the evidence points to Stamford as the thief who met his fateful demise as he tried to sneak the painting out of the house. Desperate to clear the name of their dear friend, the duo scramble to find an answer to this puzzling crime. Will Holmes be able to prove Stamford’s innocence?

The Irish Professor

1897. John and his friend Hugo O’Neill are victims of several criminal mishaps that seem to be following O’Neill from London to Ireland. As the incidents grow more frequent and more dangerous, Watson finds himself longing for the help of his friend Sherlock Holmes, who claimed to be in France on business.

However, nothing is as it seems. As Holmes weaves his web of lies and deception to catch a skilled criminal, Watson and O’Neill must battle their predicament alone. Will Watson be able to solve the mystery behind these attacks without Holmes? And what was Holmes’ business in France?

The Strange Affair at Glastonbury

1895. After solving a case in Bath, Watson suggests they visit Glastonbury for a few days, as they aren’t expected back in London for a few days. Upon arriving there, they discover that, to the confusion of the locals, seemingly random things have started to go missing in the dead of night, and all road signs have been turned backwards.

As every night brings a new surprise, Dr Watson and Sherlock Holmes are called upon to help by the local constable. However, the bizarre occurrences appear to have nothing in common except for the time of the crime. Can the duo figure out if they are indeed related and put a stop to things before they escalate?

A Voice From the Ether

1896. Jabez Wilson, an old client of the sleuth, and owner of a pawnshop, has been unable to pay for Holmes’ services in the past. But when Holmes bumps into the man again months later, Wilson presents the detective with a phonograph by way of payment. Upon setting it up, the duo discover that the previous owner’s last recording had contained an ominous message. Can Watson and Sherlock follow the clues left behind on the phonograph in time? Will they save a man’s life, or will they be too late to be of any help?
