Picked a couple up today before seeing the post about it staying on permanently in dimmed mode, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

Very, very lightweight with a thin wrap of stainless steel that's marginally thicker than tin foil.

Full brightness isn't very bright at all. If you were to say drop your keys I'm not sure you wouldn't have to resort to your phone's LED.

Fixing is just by hanging on screw heads, so nothing stopping anybody walking off with it. Not even sure it would be secure in high wind as there's absolutely no weight to it whatsoever.

My "front" door is actually on the side of the house. When approaching from the side the PIR doesn't activate until you're virtually in front of it. Probably not an issue if approaching from the front.

On the plus side, it's a Li-ion 18650 battery so should be better that the crappy low capacity Ni-Mh that usually come with this sort of thing.

They'll be going back tomorrow. (edited)

5 warm white LEDs? I’ve seen solar lights on Amazon that say they have 200-300+ LEDs ?

Quantity doesn't necessarily mean better quality. Need to compare brightness. This is 100 lumens

Anyone know if this becomes useless during winter when it's dark and cloudy most of the time?

Wonder if the light doesnt come on too much (because no PIR activity) it will retain most of the stored power?
    Apple_Buck's avatar
Sadly not! When it get dark it stays on with dim light in a low power state and then when the PIR is triggered it lights up to 100lm! It's quite a nice light, so I'm going to look into getting a new PCB which only comes on when the PIR is triggered and look at doing a better battery setup as Winter will destroy it!

    IP44 so not rainproof
    wakers88's avatar
Yes it is. Ip44 is splashproof. Industrial plugs and sockets (standard ones) are only ip44. Perfectly fine for outdoors

These are seriously bad. Very lightweight
and gaps between outer plastic and the insides makes me question if it’s even splash proof. Returned this garbage immediately. (edited)
