Somerset Ibis Bridgwater hotel with availability for the remainder of 2023 including weekends, at a flat rate of £49 for one night based on 2 people including breakfast, a welcome drink and late checkout (two nights is £89). There is also an option to add a 2 course dinner with the room which works out at £69. Seems a decent saving esepcially for summer months at weekends e.g. June, as the rates are closer to £100 at third party sites like booking.com. Free cancellation.

This is a contractors hotel for construction workers at HPC, rooms will probably be OK but as people have pointed out it's not a tourist location and is located on an industrial estate. Unless you have a good reason to be there, I really wouldn't bother.

Best check the location before booking - it's in an industrial estate more than 2 miles away from the town and only really accessible by driving.

That’s good to know. I always make sure I’m staying on an industrial estate when booking a trip away

If you do go there then a visit to Timewarp Arcade is highly recommended

I lose so many hours in there, it’s nice to play so many arcade games from when I was a kid and not blow all my pocket money

Useless fact of the day. I did my first ever bungie jump off of a crane in Bridgewater.

Useless fact of the day, No.2. I didn't.

Footnote , is that how you got your user name ?

Happy to pay that to not go to Bridgwater.

They should be paying you to stay in Bridgwater...

Once upon a time, doctors in Somerset used to use the abbreviation NFB on patients' notes. It hasn't happened for quite a few years now - oddly it disappeared around the time of patient access to records.

It stood for Normal for Bridgwater.

This has to be at least a 100% better than staying at the Travelodge at the Bridgwater service station surely? Please tell me it is as that was the worst service station I've ever visited in my life. Put me off ever exploring the place itself : (

There is an additional charge for parking even though it's not in the town centre, just an excuse to charge you more per room to my mind

Not far from the Somerset Levels (& my pub in Burrowbridge -shameless plug!)

Lots to do in the area for a weekend away. Rough in parts but was an enjoyable trip. Can’t complain for less than £100!

Wow. Welcome to Ibis Bridgewater, perfect cheap overnight or day stay catering for your extra marital affairs or use by local s*x workers. 😫

This could be useful for anyone going to Butlin's at Minehead. As it's around 26 miles away from Minehead. Depending on where your travelling from the extra night might be a good idea. That last bit takes just under an hour and is probably the worst part of the trip. (edited)

I lived in Bridgwater, for three years. Enjoyed my time there. Great place to stay as a stopover. To Devon and Cornwall.
Just off junction 24, is a farm shop and butchers, called Pynes's. Amazing food.
    messyhead's avatar
Pyne’s do banging pork and beef rolls. That’s literally the only positive thing I can say about the place. It comes only second worst in that area to Highbridge.

I live in bridgy and can tell you there’s nothing around that area, save the fuel and book either mercure or Tudor in town, Tudor does a lovely breakfast that’s free with the room.
