Sony WH-1000XM5 Noise-Cancelling Headphones - superb audio, clear calls and a long battery life.Cut Out The Distractions
Sony's industry-leading noise cancellation* just took its biggest step up! With 4 microphones on each earcup, ambient sound is captured even more accurately, and the new Integrated Processor V1 delivers unprecedented noise-cancelling quality.

30-Hour Battery Life
With up to a huge 30 hours of battery life, you'll have enough power, even for long trips, and a collapsible case is included for easy storage.

Adaptive Sound Control
Adaptive Sound Control automatically adjusts the ambient sound settings to suit where you are and what you're doing, Speak-to-Chat also lets you have a conversation without taking off your headphones, and the music is automatically stopped when you aren't wearing them.

Crisp, Clear Calls
Precise Voice Pickup Technology uses 4 beamforming microphones and an AI-based noise reduction algorithm to isolate your voice precisely, and a new wind noise reduction structure minimises wind noise during calls.

Hi-Res Audio
High-Resolution Audio and High-Resolution Audio Wireless are supported, thanks to LDAC, transmitting approximately 3 times more data than conventional Bluetooth audio.

Double Pairing
For total convenience, these Bluetooth headphones can be paired with two devices at the same time. Fast Pair and Swift Pair are both featured.

Attention To Detail
Other high-quality features include a premium lead-free solder containing gold for excellent conductivity, a Fine Sound Resistor for even power distribution, and optimised circuitry for an improved signal-to-noise ratio.

Currys have price matched and I can get 6% off with reward gateway. So £262.26 for me thanks.

Xm4's are still better, nearly exact same sound quality and the 4`s fold which is essential for travelling, walking about etc.
No idea why they didn't let the 5's fold.

If you want to use them for teams calls etc xm4 are terrible, they pick up all noise from the room around you. If you don't care about that, there's not much difference.

This or xm4 ? Worth the extra £50? (edited)

I'm looking out for the XM4's sub £200 hopefully. I don't think there's much difference and XM5's don't fold up which is a dealbreaker for me. I also think the XM4's look better but that's a question of taste.

I would wait till prime day . Might get lucky and a deal pops up . I prefer the xm4’s tbf aesthetically

Buy them and then return them if Amazon do a better offer

Highly recommend extended warranty for these. My XM4’s broke after 2 years. It’s a noise cancelling issue. Happens to XM3’s too and I’ve had the same issue with AirPods before. Just don’t trust ANC to last anymore so I got XM5’s with 5 year warranty.

It’s not a hardware issue . Sony update the firmware to deliberately noble the NC . Happened on my mx3 . I couldn’t hear a thin with NC on when I had them n the beginning.

I still use them tho . And have a spare new pair when the finally give in

    Blue only at £279

I don't care about the specs, what is the headband made out of? Lots of other Sony headphones have a tiny plastic peg holding each cup in and when that snaps you have to throw the whole thing away.

It looks like a head hurter, my XM3s hurt my head and ears after about an hour or so, usually during a film at night. But at least they fold into the compact case.

Just a word of warning my XM4's irritate my ears badly, if you google it you will see its reasonably common. My Bose 700's are fine so it's something in the ear cup material on the Sony's.

No deals on Prime day unfortunately

I wasn’t impressed with the XM4s. I found they didn’t sound as good as their price suggests and found they got very hot on wars and had a lot of clamping.

Because wireless headphones are trash for audio quality apart from very few units like the focal bathys , Hifiman Ananda

If all you care about is sound quality and home or office use ,avoid these unless you really need ANC,there are much better wired options at lower prices

    Any wireless recommendations?

Curry’s still showing as 319 too, does the price match have to be agreed per order

I've had xm4 and xm5, I never have really used the mic so can't comment on that, sound quality was very similar, but for me the xm4s were so much more comfy for travel. The xm5s don't fold into your shoulder and just stick out upside down at a weird angle. Dig into my chin and neck all the time. Genuinely really dislike to have them around my neck.
  15. spoileralert's avatar
IMO, listened to both and use the XM4's as daily.

the price difference is not justified for the average user. XM4s are brilliant.
Got my XM4's last year for £209 I believe.

50598929-Nmoi2.jpgi just got the xm5s from this deal after owning the xm3s for years...have to say using the same EQ settings as did for my xm3s I'm not noticing a massive amount of difference maybe slightly better mids but that's about it...anyone else got and refined EQ settings to try for the xm5s specifically? Mine are above..ta
