About this deal

The price on Amazon yo-yos so has been this before and seems likely will be again, so don't 'panic buy' nor buy it you don't need; but if you're in the market for a good sounding BT speaker then this one is worth checking out, and if you have one already then they pair up easily and sound very good handling true stereo between them.

Good points: Stereo speaker, low latency BT, aptX, 3.5mm AUX in, decent app with 9-band equaliser (essential to get the best out of this - default profile is quite dull), can get pretty loud and bassy for its size (obviously restrained by laws of physics )

Bad points: The volume jumps on BT are quite big (6 to 7 percent per jump) though not a big issue and none at all if app/device has a separate volume control. No dust protection.

If you want a light speaker for hiking then look smaller, or if you want one that's very loud and bassy for outdoors parties then look bigger (Motion Boom Plus or bigger) but otherwise this does everything in between.

I have this and it's great for hi res sounds via the 3.5mm wired cable. However, I have had a lot of connection issues via Bluetooth. So only use it wired, now.

Sorry to hear about the BT issues. I've not had any problems since I bought mine about a year ago, thankfully; it's connected to my android phone and laptop. BT issues are not uncommon in tech in general though, it's got to be among the most common complaints with tech.

Is this noticeably better than the Motion Boom?
I have one (and it's excellent), but need one for work.

I don't have a Boom to compare it to. From RTINGS website: "The Anker Soundcore Motion+ is a better speaker than the Anker Soundcore Motion Boom overall. The Motion+ has better directivity, resulting in a wider-sounding soundstage. You can pair it to up to two devices at once, so you can easily switch between audio sources. Also, it has lower Bluetooth latency with Android devices, making it better-suited for watching videos over this connection. That said, the Motion Boom can get louder with less compression at max volume, resulting in cleaner audio at louder volumes."

If you love the Boom and it does what you need and it's a better price then yeah maybe stick with that model

For me the flexibility and features of the Motion+ are great, especially the low latency over BT for watching YT or vids on my laptop. If I wanted a louder speaker with more bass I think I'd go Motion Boom Plus, they are £120 currently. (edited)
