Local to me. Dreadful reputation, haven't heard a positive thing about the place in years.

Once again Groupon are being geographically dishonest. This hotel isn't in the South Lakes, it's on the flat coastal plain with little in the way of nice scenery and very poor public transport links. Cold.

I stayed in Barrow last year. If you've got a car the Lakes are not that far away, and Walney Island is lovely and has some beautiful scenery.

Is there any good hiking in the vicinity

Nope. It's on a cul de sac to nowhere, absolutely no look out whatsoever. In a location a village idiot would be upset with and as overpriced as prime drink. But hey ho it's on Groupon so must be a bargain hahahaha

    South Lakes?
It's on the A590 Barrow-in-Furness bypass, about 10 miles outside the Lake District National Park.

    South (of the) Lakes

The only good thing about Barrow is the road out, I should know I went to school there when it had one of the highest number of teenage pregnancies in the country. The town centre is a dump, shops closed down, windows smashed, if it wasn’t for BAE it would be screwed.

Please don’t believe this misleading offer! It is not the countryside retreat they make out
