I have one, it's 2m because it's pocket size, it's pocket size because it's for a key chain. My one still works like new well over a year later. Super useful when you're out and about and need to measure something and aren't carrying around a measuring tape

It's not what you'd want for measuring out a room sure, but it's pocket friendly for measuring stuff out-and-about (will that table fit x, how many inches is that screen, will this thing I'm ordering fit in that bag etc). I use my 2m way more than I ever drag out the longer one. Of course YMMV!

Too small to be useful? What if all I need to measure are things smaller than a metre then surely this would be perfect?

I've had one for about a year and love it. Use it as much as my 3M/5M/8M.
You can't compare it to a full size tape because it is not. It is smaller, easy to fit in a pocket and easier to handle on smaller items. Wouldn't be without one for £2.80
