Just be aware that these use a tiny bit of power in standby. For instance, I found that it was pointless to have 1 TV connected to one of these plugs because it used less power just to leave the TV in standby.

If you’re connecting various devices via an extension cord, they’re a good idea.
    JammyD's avatar
It's when you connect to an extension lead that can cause issues due to excess load. Lose lose situation

I use a bunch of them for things like turning the microwave off 30 minutes after it being turned on (wife never turns it off), the printer 30 minutes after being turned on (the wife never turns it off).... you get the gist.
    max99's avatar
she leaves the microwave running for 30 mins?! or do you mean off from standby? ... someone above said these use a bit of energy so may be better to just leave the items in standby rather than have one of these on?

What happens if you connect an extension wire to one of these?

Great deal, but anyone know if these are threads/matter compliant? Can't see anything on the mfr website, but want some degree of future-proofing and connectivity.

They are £4.50 plugs how long do you expect them to last lol

Ive had these for 3 years and 3-4 of them fail each year.

TP Link have great customer service though and just replace them.

They're great when they work! (edited)

I've about 20+ of them (mix of energy monitoring and not), none have failed yet. They are about 2 years old now. luck of the draw I guess.

got a few of these and the bulbs all connected to alexa echo 8 and phone, great bit of kit for hidden away plugs, b22 bulbs are good too, they are dimmable as well

good deal but don't play nice with mesh sadly

Got two of these on a Mesh network and they work seamlessly - doddle to set up and never had any issues.

Anyone tried to use these with the TP Link Kasa range ? I have read they are not compatible. I have 6 Kasa plugs which I manage via the google home app and would like to buy more smart plugs but not these would work with my setup (edited)
    wackybeaver's avatar
Kasa now works in the latest Tapo app (v3.0 or later) I’m using the standard app (non beta) on the iPhone. Another user (credit: neonplanet40) says it works on android too. This might mean Google home now does the same.

Are these actually any good? A local shop was clearing them ojt: they had 4 twim packs for £7 each and I wasn't sure so left them...

    Probably a mistake!

Do these support reboot? I.e. switch off, wait 5-10 seconds and switch back on. Looking for a way to reboot router remotely. I’ve never found one that supports this, but seems such an obvious feature to include. Thanks.

I really liked these until they all started failing on me one after the other. 9/10 failed so I switched to Meross.
